I wouldn't mind remasters of SE, Porsche Unleashed etc but lets be real for a minute here. Do you think games like that which are extremely simplistic and very small in scale will be worth the money games cost these days? There's just no way. I would pay R50 for such a game.I got into it with NFS2-SE.
And keep in mind that games like Underground 2 simply weren't possible in the days of NFS SE. It's not to say because they made games like SE that is what NFS is supposed to be. Same with the Test Drive series. The first iterations were the most basic of games before TDU came along because before technology evolved that is what they were limited to.
But yeah, as I said, those games are not what NFS is for me and if you take an objective look, it isn't for the majority that buy the games either. And EA has damaged the franchise by their own accord. Rather than giving the majority that buys the games what they ask for they kept experimenting and got stuck in what can only be described as an identity crisis.
Now there's many sides of the fence. The ricers, the track racers, the burnout fans and the OG NFS fans. You can't keep everyone happy, evidently.
Actually had a discussion with @PancakesZA last night regarding the NFS franchise. If Microsoft and Turn10 makes a game like Underground 2, Most Wanted 2005 and Carbon they will absolutely nail it and they will bank all the way. It would be the best Need For Speed game (that does not carry the NFS title) ever made. Mark my words, a Forza street racing game set in Tokyo is going to happen sometime or another, and when that happens, NFS is going to be pretty much dead. EA keeps fucking around. Keeping up high spirits for Heat though. Will see what happens at Gamescom
