I play the laid back stuff on my own, but there's always somebody around when I try the heavy stuff. I've bliksemmed my wall and cupboards a few times already playing Gorn and Superhot and a friend that yells "oppas die muur!" really helps.

So long story short, kry iemand om jou draad te trek :)

Price drop on Rift on Amazon, going for $350 (landed price around R7k I reckon).
Of course rumor has it RIft S is going to be announced at some point.

Ah, yes. When the new Oculus Core 2.0 Dash were introduced, I used it standing... So the first time I tried a seated experience with the dash, I nearly smashed my touch controller on the desk, as the virtual dash happened to be about 2 inches below the physical desk :(

Those touch controllers can take one heck of a hit.

When you get tangled up in it, yes.

Seriously considering the wireless options, but they are different for each headset - we really need an universal solution that will work with any headset's HDMI and USB.

About R50 worth of cable management goes a long way

And then about R300 sorts a 2m extension which is enough to cover my 3x3 space with ease

Something I'd like to toss in the ring as well, albeit it be slight. Many people report a slightly better FOV when using a VR Cover from vrcover.com
Being closer to the lenses and all that. No actual numbers but apparently it's very noticeable.

Perhaps it's different on Vive, but for Oculus I can speak from personal experience... I've got the VR covers on my Oculii at work and I experience the opposite...they put my face farther from the screen, noticeably farther. (And it wasn't any better before my velcro mod)

Also...I had to put additional velcro on my Oculus' facial interface or else the keep coming off...you can find various complaints about this if you search the web.

They do look cool though

Down from that I would probably go with the Samsung HMD Odyssey + *plus* which starts shipping in 2 weeks. Hear me out.
You get a Vive Pro screen with even less SDE (slightly more blur) and can combine it with Vive controllers and lighthouses for amazing tracking.
From what I understand you're gonna have to jump through some serious hoops to get the Vive wands working without the headset....it's officially unsupported.

Possible, but doesn't seem worth it.

Hey, which extensions did you get? The ones recommended by Oculus FAQ aren't available locally.

Ah, so not locally then :)
I tried my ass off, couldn't get the stuff from local suppliers. Ordered from Amazon and I had it a few days later. Seriously not a lot of hassle ordering from them.

I've ordered plenty from Amazon (like say, my actual Rift :) ) just feels like a waste 1 of my 3 imports per annum for 2 cables. :p

Well, supposedly they're enforcing it now, but then again I reckon those articles are sponsored by wantitall which is literally the most expensive way of getting goods from Amazon. Thanks for the offer, was just making tongue in cheek comment, Wife has 3 imports, baby girl has 3 imports, as do each of our parents and my granny. Lot's of 3 import limits to go around.

I import from Amazon maybe 5-6 times a year. I always get a call form the courier company, usually Aramex, asking me for my import number or ID. On my last order, as always, I gave my ID to which the operator replied, "It's fine for now, but please consider getting an import code, you've already done quite a few imports this year".

Think I'll use the wife's ID for the rest of the year.

Been eyeing that. Don't ship here though so hoping Amazon gets the same pricing but currently Amazon doesn't even have the Odyssey+ regular price. Perhaps @ScottulusMaximus can quote for a landed SA price from Samsung store?

Just pop a request through once it goes live and we'll get back to you with a number, can't say for sure now.

I planned on doing just that :)
Was just curious whether you could give a USD based price since obviously price on execution is exchange rate dependent.

I don't offer out ballparks unfortunately, they tend to get misconstrued. Need exact pricing etc etc to get it right the first time.

Okay, fair enough. Thought you could give exact USD price. Out of curiosity, between giving your price and executing, how do you manage the exchange rate risk? I was surprised to see you give exact ZAR pricing.

Echo Combat got released finally.
Only problem is VR and Heatwave like weather does not go well together.

Echo Combat is the most awesome FPS experience you can have in VR atm.
