So, I wanna get uncapped wireless LTE for just general household usage (surfing the net, etc) and gaming. I have been looking at and comparing deals from different Service Providers and reading reviews (most of them are from very disgruntled clients ) so I really couldn't base my decision on those in respect to the deals I want.

Damn I waffled on for too long, the main point of this thread is to know whether any of you have worked with any SPs and detail your experience with them (recommendations welcome) in order to make a sound decision.

SP’s differ but qos with lte mainly depends on reception. Have a look at Poynting for antennas.

I've had wireless LTE for a few years now (although not uncapped, but ~200Gb), thanks to no fiber, and in all that time I have been with Telkom. I have never had to call them once to fix an issue.
The problem with LTE is reception and congestion on a tower. There's nothing your service provider can do about those two no matter who they are (short term at least), so get yourself a smallish package and test it out, you might not need an antenna, but it did help in my case. Just test it out all hours of the day, as people travel and congestion changes.

This is for Telkom uncapped LTE @ R900:
  • 150GB data @ 10Mbps
  • Thereafter 50GB data @ 4Mbps
  • Thereafter 2Mbps uncapped data rest of month
So this always check the throttling stuff.

Oh and for gaming the packet loss did improve once I added a Poynting antenna as we lived fairly far away from any towers. I can't really speak for gaming latency/packet loss if you live close to a tower.

Apparently there's a rumour of Telkom changing their FUP on Blackfriday for signups on their Uncapped LTE Network.

Webafrica now offering their month to month sim only offerings as well as their uncapped package month to month.
Got 3 x packages with them now.

Question is will they benefit from the new FUP when Telkom changes it.

PS.
