I'm gonna preface this by saying I'm not very technical when it comes to this sort of thing.

I have searched the net, but not found what I am looking for.

What I wanna know is does something like this exist? And if not, are there any electronic guys that could maybe McGiver something?

Basically, my keyboard has 2 modes. Wired, via usb-c and wireless via bluetooth.

Bluetooth is too slow for any kind of gaming, so I was wondering, since it already has a battery, is there like a usb c dongle i can plug into the usb c port of the keyboard, that then has a usb A dongle thing i can plug into my pc and use the keyboard wirelessly like that? Thats NOT Bluetooth, perhaps some other form of 2.4ghz wireless?

I mean in its most basic form it just needs to be a usb c on the on end which transmits data received (by keyboard in this case) to receiver.

Sounds pretty simply to be honest but i dunno.

Am i looking for a unicorn here?

Cheers

Any particular reason for not using the cable during gaming?

Which keyboard is it? You might be better off selling your current one and using the money for a dedicated 3-mode version

Purely aesthetics.

I've got minimal cables on my desk, the only cable left really is the kb one.

Kb is nothing fancy, its a blitzwolf kb1.

Following this. I've also got a potential use case for something like this.

Question though. You mention it already has a battery, but if you switch it to wired mode, won't it stop drawing power from the battery and try draw it from USB-C?

I think when I looked this whole thing up the conclusion was that you have to get a keyboard that uses a dongle instead of Bluetooth natively. But happy to be proven wrong.

Valid question.

However, when the kb is plugged in, when i flip the battery switch on, it continues to operate as normal.

I can also have it in wired mode, pc off (propper off, no usb standby) and still get rgb using battery, as well as use the fn key combination to switch from wired mode to wireless mode.

So my guess here is that it doesn't care whether there's a cable plugged in or not for power. It only cares about which mode its in via the fn key combo.

But this is just a guess and I'm not really sure how to test it.

I would suggest perhaps a type c to qi charging receiver pad and then put a qi wireless charging pad under your mouse pad / into your desk.

Although check the 1 star reviews below lol. I never got the chance to test this myself cause someone at SAPO wanted a gift (ordered from banggood back in 2018)

Would that work? Cos if so that would work for me, but afaik qi only does power and not data?

Yes thats correct, so data via bluetooth.

If you want to achieve minimalism without too much cost.

What you are proposing is technically possible thou but not easy

I can already do data via BT though?

But i don't want to because of the ~200ms lag.

Fine for work and typing and stuff, not so much gaming.

Highly doubt you can jerry rig it to operate on wifi with ease. Theirs no driver support for the connection. Your best bet would be to rig an arduino nano to the keyboard interior and have it transcribe the keyboard output into a wifi signal that your cpu can easily communicate with. I dont think thats gonna be easy.. at all. Be a sick project if you have experience coding. Otherwise probably better to do what others have mentioned and sell your current keyboard so you can buy one that has this capability.
