I just got a Mecer inverter which has a very noisy 80mm fan in it which I'd like to swap for a Noctua quiet version.

Any idea where I could get one of these in SA?

I've looked for years, never been able to source them locally.
amazon.com normally delivers to SA, it's pricey though.

They are usually quieter for a reason... because they move less air

I bought 6 x 140mm and 6 x 120mm from Amazon and they got delivered on Wednesday. I installed them yesterday and i must say it's the best fans I've ever bought.

What was the import and customs cost?

Register an account with Amazon (make sure your address is a South African one).
Pick an item you are interested. If it ships to South Africa, all the costs are mentioned.
Pay the total amount and don't have to worry about anything else.
It will be delivered to you on the dates mentioned depending on the kind of shipping you choose.

I just ordered mine from Amazon, you all drop big tom on LGBTQFP disco fans but get stingy when it comes to actual engineering :-D

For the same amount of air, they are a lot quieter than anything else.

Fair enough, and looks like the veins holding the stator in place are designed to reduce air slapping, especially with those owlet cuts in them. But nothing beats lower RPM for lower noise, except maybe RGB =P

The biggest difference for me is the SSO - the do not commutate hard, so less vibration, especially on lower RPM. But you do get industrial versions that go to higher RPMs - not that you would need that if you planned properly...

Hi all, Amazon would def be the best bet. Sorry this is late to the chat, blame the carbonite noob ;)

Their products are worth the extra to pay and import.

I was lucky to get the last Noctua NH-U12S Chromax from rebeltech just before they closed. Awesome cooler!
