Tthe actual cost of fibre lies with the provider - which makes sense, because they build the infrastructure that the ISP can then use. What I want to know is, when are we going to see infrastructure guys start competing on a price level?

I'm currently with MFN. They do have great service, but the prices are higher than everyone else. In my area these are the costs (using Vox):

100/100 - R1361

But then, I move up to another area close by, they are using VumaTel

100/100 - R1239

Vox doesn't appear on FibreTiger.....

Anyways, is there MTN Fibre in your area? Since ISP Fire Stream offers 100/100 uncapped for R1099pm
Just need to confirm their shaping policy.

Cool ideas through Century City Connect is R999pm for 100/50 uncapped and unshaped

The more areas fibre rolls out to, the lower the fibre prices will be, in theory.

But honestly the fibre pricing is already cheap. Go back a few years and look at the pricing

My shanty neighborhood doesn't even have DSL anymore, thank goodness for fixed LTE.

Seems like Telkom and co are just too happy to switch every one to LTE than maintaining and / or replacing stolen ADSL / telephone lines. In the end I wonder if even fibre is going to survive.

Correct.
I feel like Fibre pricing is in a good place right now.
I'm only now getting Fibre in my area and I'm more than happy to pay R1067 for a 50/50 connection.
Currently paying R1200 a month for 200GB Telkom LTE :poop:

well - Vumatel and Openserve have just had a massive drop in price. Openserves Premium Uncapped package (No shaping, throttling and uncapped)) was like R2300 a month for the 100/50mbps - now is R1117 (Afrihost Pure Fibre) and this came after Openserve dropped their pricing, the pricing for what used to be their 40Mbps package is now 100Mbps in terms of pricing.

These are all ISP related comments. MFN is open to anyone, so I can go with whoever I want. But all of them are the same price because of MFN's cost.

My question is around when infrastructure providers are going to make their services cheaper.

Maybe I'm just too broke for a 100/100 connection, and that's why I'm unhappy :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Today. I saw prices drop today. Axxess, has now consolidated all their tiers of uncapped, in to one, and are calling it, are you ready, uncapped.

They promise to not throttle or shape your line, no matter what (except of there is a service outage). This even applies to OpenServe. There are no longer any FUPs to worry about. And for the first time it makes monetary sense to move to fibre from a 40Mbps/400GB capped VDSL package (R1119pm) to a 100Mbps uncapped fibre line (R1135)

Fiber providers fighting for the same pool of customers with fiber roll out moving at a snails pace. KZN coverage is a joke, It's almost hurtful to constantly recieve mails about fiber specials when not even our office has coverage in a busy industrial area.

Vumatel approached everyone in our office area two years ago, promising fiber will be live within 3 months, never heard from them again. Gladly we are 200m from a telkom exchange so we get 40/10 VDSL.

Forced to pay R1499pm for 15/8 from a wireless provider at home because Telkom copper is utterly useless, so much so that ADSL and even basic phone service is not possible.
