So as the title states, let us know what sound setup do you have at home?

Are you just a headphone user with no way to annoy your neighbours?

What speaker setup do have and are you looking to upgrade?

I had a gander at the different ways that you can make your PC produce sounds. Did I miss something?

I originally ran a Aiwa wifi that would rattle my windows with bass on it's lowest setting and volume halfway up, till the mount it was on ripped out my wall.
So now I am just using headphones, and some cheap Creative 2.1 speakers.

I was looking at the Logitech Z906 system, but tbh, anything more than bookshelf speakers and I have to keep my volume down else it echoes throughout the house.

First step for me would be some form of sound proofing, but damn those panels are expensive

My other option that I am looking at is taking the speakers from the Aiwa (hifi unit be dead after it dropped on my laptop), and wiring it up with an amp that I got from a friend.
Just need to get a PSU for the amp and some decent speaker wires as the Aiwa's stock speakers are trash due to it's age.
(system is older than I am)

Xonar Essence STX
Optical out to an old but incredible Logitech z680 5.1 system.
Stereo for day to day and Dolby Digital Live for gaming.

Headphone out to my AT M50x's (2019 Limited Edition)
I've got the same optical out to a Sony surround.
Otherwise when I play team games I switch to my Asus TUF.

You can make some sound dampening panels, which aren't that expensive. Using rockwool and MDF and a little bit of polyester. Works like a charm to remove the echo from a room, not all that certain of keeping the sound from escaping.

Still rocking a 6 year old harmon kardon soundstick set, this thing bangs for gaming/music/movies.
Headphones I have are the 58x, hd1, m50x, along with a schiit stack. No gaming specific audio equipment in my kit

Those sound sticks always look so good. My rents never wanted to spend the money at the time though.

Cool, will check it out.
Echo is the main problem.
I.e if there is the slightest amount of bass then it just echoes down the passage.
And without some bass the sound just sounds flat.

If you see them pop up on the forum I highly recommend them. I bought them here for like 1.6k at the time, its the second version not the wireless. Definitely the best tech purchase I've ever made considering how long they are lasting

Steel Series Arctis Pro Wireless - for when I game.
Hisense 2.1 Channel HS219 Soundbar - for when I watch movies or listen to music etc.

When i was 18 years old on my PS2

i had a Sinotech system in 2007 was R12000.000 i got it on black friday for R3999

it had a 7.1 channel amp

12x 10 inch sound speakers
2 x 8 inch speakers
2 x 6 inch speakers
5 x 3 inch ( not sure size ) super twitters
4 x 4 inch center speakers
4 x 10 inch subwoofers with its own built in amps System came with one sub i added the other 3 got it from second hand shops

When i use to rev the cars in NFS underground 2 people use to think its a real car some where in my area . The whole room use to shake . Was nice playing GTA iv and other games as well on Xbox 360 on surround sound back in the old days

Been rocking Beyerdynamic DT770 headphones for the past 10 years. They're starting to get long in the tooth, plastic is getting brittle and the earpads are nearly finished. I've been considering dipping my toes into open-back land with something like a Hifiman Ananda, or sticking to my guns with a Beyer DT1990 or 900 PRO X.

I would need a new DAC/AMP setup as well then, my Audioengine D1 is showing its age.

Also have IMR R2 Aten IEMs for office listening goodness, they honestly sound better than my DT770s for music, but suck for gaming.

When speakers are needed I have a cheapy Creative 2.1 setup, and also an aging 5.1 setup in the living room.

Asus Essence STX ==> Mogami RCAs ==> Topping A90 ==> Sennheiser HD 650 / Grado SR80e / Shure SE215

AntLion Modmic Wireless for the comms.

As an aside. Cate fucking Blanchett in this film. Yowzer.

Rocking two sets of the oldies Z5500 and for when baby or wife home then I change over to my cheap but actually not bad Gamdias "7.1".

If anyone is looking at selling their Z5500 I might be interested still need two sets not for my pc but the house.

So was looking at the Z607.
Anyone got this?
And what does the connection to pc look like?
I.e does it actually run at 5.1 surround when connected to pc?
And how is the sound quality?

Onboard sound card > Pioneer SA-508 amp (circa 1979) > Alesis Monitor One MKII on stands in a monitoring triangle and SVS SB-1000 sub for the doef.
90% of the time it's just for background music while I work, but occasionally there's a song that I really like...
Really nice for gaming, too. Yes, I know it's a weird mix and probably overkill but since I spend most of my time in front of my PC, it's where my nice stuff had to go.

I've been using an old, Technics hifi. It's absolutely stunning. 5.2 surround sound and the magic audio processing it does on its own. The 3-way fronts are lovely, while the satellites are just okay. Overall, it's excellent for music and games.
