Hey guys, so im getting an itch to upgrade and graphics card has been first on my list but im wondering what you guys think.

Current setup:

Ryzen 5 1600 @3.8ghz
Aorus b450 pro
2x8gb Flarex 2400mhz
Aorus Rx580 8gb

Would a graphics card upgrade serve me better? Or perhaps a Ryzen 2600?
or save up for a whole change up, like a i5 9400f or something

Its called CUD, a very common disease floating around carb ...

I would wait it out as long as you can and then do a conplete overhaul, else start with GPU in my opinion and then Mobo and cpu

If you're playing in 1080P your GPU is fine. Depending on your budget consider replacing your CPU with a Ryzen 2600 or 3600 if your board's BIOS has been updated. You can also try OC your FlareX RAM for some free FPS, particularly if it's Samsung chips.

Overclocking your ram won't see any real world improvements. Please do proper research before you attempt it.

Your current build is well balanced. Nothing is really keeping anything else back.

What games do you mostly play at the moment? If it's CPU intensive games, start there. Otherwise GPU.

Are you currently on 1080p? If so, you might consider going [email protected] Then I would recommend that you replace your GPU, then monitor then the rest of the platform.

There is a lot to consider, but as a blanket rule a GPU upgrade is generally the way to go.

Afraid I'm going to have to disagree with this statement. It's proven fact that gaming performance on Ryzen is very dependent on memory clocks and timing, with the generally agreed sweetspot of 3200 for Zen+.

I do agree with doing the research though, hence the link I provided.

I agree but it's not his bottleneck so in his case it won't make much of a difference to his FPS. Kind of limited by his RX 580. It all helps though :)
That FlareX ram overclocks quite easily to 3000mhz just by setting the voltage to 1.35V. If you are unsure try 2800Mhz or 2933Mhz

Still stand by my recommendation, working on the assumption that he's gaming at 1080P - upgrade to Ryzen 2600/2600x which will allow for higher memory speed (or even better, the 3600). Keep the GPU since it's great for 1080P gaming unless he's trying for 500FPS in e-sports titles or something like that. Tweak the memory and call it a day.

1440hz that would be more fluid than physicalk reality😂

OP, you have a good system, so my only suggestion would be to power that system with a solid PSU, that will last you 4 systems kind of thing, something that is absolute top-notch quality and doesn't short on any component, just don't RGB that kak either. If you want to upgrade, I would upgrade airflow and cooling, Noctua is de wae since our trusty Rebeltech now stocks them. Make those good components happy will cool and moving air, removing any turbulent air.

if you don't play competively and just enjoy gaming, your rig is fine, like SIltech said, there is no other need for it otherwise.

You'll struggle to achieve 144hz if you're going to be a wussy and not oc your ram.

Even if you get a 1080ti you won't see 144hz if you keep your ram at stock

He'll see 144Hz easy, 144 FPS is a different perhaps less likely story.
