Anyone used the unifi za shop? Direct prices looks good, but no mention of shipping times or potential customs implications. What has your experience been?

Says Free 5-day shipping at the bottom.
Although I dont know about customs.

2 year warranty sounds good, double scoop.
Prices are also very decent, beating scoops dealer pricing at times.

Worried about customs and an extra cost layer.

If they ship from rsa, their whole distribution model wouldn't make sense. Why would anyone buy from a retailer if you can just buy directly... So doesn't quite add up.

Have you tried emailing them to ask how it works?

Can't find a place to even email the to ask. Hence posting on the forum. Hopefully someone else have used them in the past and can let us know what to expect.

Seeing as the domain is ui.com it is undoubtedly owned by Ubiquiti, but I can’t comment on how it works. Their T&Cs mention that products are shipped from the USA, which would imply no local warranty.

Fair enough.

I checked now on the Contact Us section; if you go to General Sales Inquiries it just says "For questions related to sales, please reach out to one of our distributors." Which completely defeats the purpose of having a direct online store.

I guess your next try could be to message them on their Facebook or Twitter accounts?

I just bought something. Let's see what happens....

RSA payment gateway. Stock automatically selected EU versions. Waiting for tracking numbers that I'll propabkly get on Monday.
I see in the terms and conditions they mention their local address:

Ubiquiti South Africa Proprietary Limited, a company incorporated under the laws of South Africa with company number 2021/111067/07, whose registered office is at B4 Century Square, Heron Crescent, Century City, (“Ubiquiti”, “we” or “us”) sells products (“Products”) at Ubiquiti Store (collectively, the “UI Store”).

Got a shipping notice! Still can't track. But crossing fingers.

Hi,

Thank you for your email. For our regional stores, we would have a location in that region, in which case orders would not ship from the US.
Best,

Ubiquiti Inc.

Placed an order at 2pm and was shipped before close of business.

So looks like we all good to go.
2 year warranty as well.

Scoop and miro etc better start dropping their pricing

Wow, this is pretty good. I've been wanting to grab a bunch of Unify stuff to complete my setup and when I first starting doing research they didn't have an SA store. A pity a lot of their stuff is out of stock currently however

Haha, just landed here with my fellow Carbies after i started to stress after my order on the new site was sitting on processing for more then 4 days.

It has now changed to shipped so holding thumbs so all i can give back for now is the process is defiantly slower then Scoop or Miro but way more convenient and all pricing is around 15% cheaper then my main suppliers so should it arrive ill most likely ditch both scoop and Miro, never liked scoop anyways.

I've ordered a few more times. Generally landed within 2 or 3 days. Unifying my house like crazy :)

And boom, just received it via Courier IT via Bidvest Logistics. All the contact information from the sender just comes from Bidvest logistics so no idea if there is some kind of local distribution hub and where that might be.

Nice bud, you definitely cant go wrong with Ubiquiti products, unbelievable UI!

Some major price increases on the unifi za store... Now raising their prices even above retailers such as geewiz!
