Does anyone have any experience with Battlenet launcher updates being crippled [up and down between 2mb/s and 20kb/s] (and occasional disconnects) after deploying a UDM-Pro?

I've enabled DPI and all the new fancy threat management it has to offer, and then some smaller little firewall rules based on certain devices, but during testing disabling it all and applying changes don't seem to make any difference. Ran a speed test on the UDM itself and it was fine at full line capacity, so it kinda rules out fiber issues, so I'm more leaning toward it being something networking-setting related than anything else, especially since a browser-based one like speedtest.net only gets about 1/3 of the expected values.

Might try reverting everything back to factory reset and starting over, but would appreciate it if anyone had any advice before I do that.

Thanks!

Me again!

I've had pretty rough speeds as well, i suspect its related to WACS and SAT-3 on the western seaboard being down since Sunday. ETA for repairs is only in September but it looks like its that. Even discord is connecting to EU servers most of the time for me as well on a Cool Ideas line.

If Blizzard uses cloud flare or AWS (both seem to be affected) it could be that they're routing over the other lines and they just dont have capacity. The new Equiano line is up but doesnt look like most providers have connectivity via it yet.

Cloudflare status shows most of Southern African content is rerouted - Cloudflare Status

The only services that seem to be unaffected are steam and Azure services/ other providers that are locally hosted.

Just a bad coincidence that it happened around the time of your upgrade to the UDM

I really appreciate this feedback thanks! I was kinda worried there for a second, especially since I went the troubleshooting route of checking everything purely off one of a 4G connection from my phone and it immediately shot back up to almost triple speeds for everything. Hoping that there is perhaps a reason for that and it not being the nail in my coffin of being pessimistic. On top of the Mrs. complaining at me the entire week that as soon as I turn on my machine she starts seeing disconnects in her Hearthstone games I was just a little concerned. Coincidently this 'only started happening after the upgrade, but might just be unrelated after all

It's only really traffic to the EU/UK so for the remainder of the world its fine, just sucks how much we depend on servers up north and Blizzard is especially bad with it

Hopefully all the providers make a plan before the cables are repaired because a month is a long time to sit with this.

Purely informational, but if you like graphs you can see how massive the climb in latency alone has been via the alternative fibre path using the eastern seaboard fibre

This is great thanks. I'll stick it out a few days then test it on one of my pending Bnet updates to see how it plays out. I can see the latencies jumping in game to between 220-380 so there is definitely something up. Was just weirded out by the 4G results since i thought they all just pushed traffic along the same routes essentially in the end
