Some great TV deals out there going into the Black Friday deals.

I cant decide between quality or size. My living room is not that big. Probably sit 3 to 4 meters away from the TV.

Do i spend R13k on a 55" 'Qled' 4k (55Q70T) or R12k on a decent 65" 4k (TU7000)?
Both of the above is Samsung. I know i can probably get another 65" tv for a bit cheaper.

Edit :D

Samsung don't do OLED i'm sure you confusing it with QLED

I did this exercise. I went for the larger screen, than the better model. It's great when playing 4k content, otherwise it's a TV. And the price was great for a 65inch, given it was an older model, that I wasn't too bothered about

The oleds and nanocells looked great but the price is obviously more. My thinking is unless I'm going in 30 to 40k mark for a TV for the "premium", I'm happy with just a larger panel

I also sit 3 to 4m or so.

Im assuming the 55 QLED is the 55Q70T that is currently on special for R13k and the other R12k option is the 65TU7000

if that's the case, considering you sit 3-4m away...I would go with the 65TU7000. Reasons to follow.

The Q70T is basically last years Q60R, there is no local dimming, however does have hdmi 2.1 and eARC (for future proofing).
The QLED models do have better colour and new processors, but with these specific models, the size of the tv will have the biggest impact ito viewing experience.

my 2c.

I'm also stuck deciding between the Q60T 65" (R16 999) and the Q70T 55" (R12 999)

The Q70T has HDMI 2.1 and Freesync
The Q60T is larger but doesn't have the above

Will eventually get a next gen console so HDMI 2.1 would come in handy

If you can honestly, try to get one of the LG TV's. I have a QLED and can say that I should have gotten the LG. I have the Q60R, but you can see the colour difference immediately compared to a LG TV.

Thanks bud will look into this.

I have had a LG 65 4K, and now have a 65 OLED. The blacks with the OLED is great, but honestly the 4K was just as good. If I had to choose betwwen 55 OLED or 65 4K, I would go with the 65 4K.

If you plan on getting any of the two next gen consoles, I’d go with the Q70T over both the Q60T and the 65”

It comes with a 120Hz panel, HDMI 2.1 and eARC

If it’s for TV and movies then I’d probably go with the bigger screen

I've got the Q70T yesterday, its quite a nicer image than the TU7000 and you can notice smoother "glitch-free" processing. However - I would've preferred the HIsense U8Q model if it came down to the same R12999 at a physical store. As mentioned above, it is really similar to the Q60R of last-year to be honest. Rtings can confirm that it only has slightly better black uniformity.

Why?

The U8 has fake 120hz with dropped frames and poor post processing software, no VRR, no freesynce, no HDMI2.1, no e arc.

Aah man.. Had no idea! Was going according to Rtings information haha. Super appreciate that heads up @xcalibersa , Guess I'm sticking with the Q70T for now then. Anyone have the 55U8Q in CPT that's willing to do a short comparison and review? Kinda trying to use my videography to getting into the tech review scene!

My personal preference will be quality, I'd rather have a nicer looking image over a larger but not as nice image.
I think after a while people forget what size their TV is, like kinda get normalized to it.
But when you have really crisp content playing, you'll very often look at the TV and think about how nice the image quality is.
Not to mention the extra features of a higher end product (like local dimming, VRR, one connect box etc).

There are limits of course though, like I won't take a 40" OLED over a 55" QLED, but I would (and have) chosen a 55" good quality QLED over a lower end 65"

Agreed, I have seen noticable processing issues on the TU7000 series on the 65inch when testing them in-store through USB file processing (do not quite trust WiFi feeds in store) - do they require further stretching of the image on upscaling perhaps? Also, it seems the UK models suffer vs the US models according to the review video link above. This is the case with the U8Q model down here. Fortunately, anything better than my golden-oldie 1080p panel is pleasing to me :D

Go 75”

Size matters [emoji16]
