So basically I have a Msi Mobo bought from kaktech 11 months back.
Last night the onboard sound card decided to stop working.

Step 1. Slap yourself in the face for not following the advice of the forum, specifically DO NOT BUY FROM EVETECH.
Step2. Return under warranty and DO NOT take no for an answer.

Many men have perished or lost their way down this path, only those who possess the spirit of a true warrior should embark on this journey

Okay not sure if MSI does this but what I did. My logitec headset just broke one day and I bought it from KAKtech. Instead of going to kaktech first I went to Logitech support and initiate the process with them first. In my case I had to take some picture to prove it was broken and then I was instructed to send it to the company of purchase. I Then started the warranty claim at Evekak and just forwarded the Email thread That i created with Logitec and boom. Cost me R400 for shipping and A lot of where is my replacement product but got a new one :)

Check if your RtkAudUService64.exe (Realtek HD Audio Universal Service) is set to run at startup.
if this stupid service doesnt run or isnt running then the sound wont work.

Good point here, @OP if you can find out the supplier of the mobo you MIGHT be lucky enough that you can go straight to the supplier for repair support.

In this case it's an msi mobo, and I seem to recall msi will handle it directly if you are willing to ship it all the way to taiwan [and back] at your own expense.

Yeah that's the unlucky scenario, i.e. the motherboard is a parallel import and only MSI Taiwan will touch it if you strike out with Eve.

Hopefully it's actually from a local distributor, and one which can handle customer support without needing to go via the retailer.
