I have a mate looking for a new gaming PC - For my sins, the honor falls on me as his techiest mate.
I told him I'd scour Carbonite first for any slightly pre-loved deals, before biting the bullet and doubling down on a build.
This is now my last ditch effort in the form of creating a wanted thread. The fresh bout of forum newbies selling rigs, and then making out like you as a buyer is somehow trying to do them in / scam them (while acting all cagey & scammy themselves), has left a bit of a sour taste for me. I have better things to do with my time than to chase & try concluding deals with muppets.
Right... the wanted list:
CPU: Looking for something along the lines of 12 or 13th Gen Core i7 (or i9), or R7/R9 Ryzen 5000/7000 series...
Mobo: Decent board - doesn't have to be top of the line. Bonus if it is, I guess.
GPU: RTX 3080Ti / 4070 or similar. Hell, I could even talk him into a decent AMD GPU if need-be.
** Also happy to also take a good build, sans GPU, if you're that way inclined **
RAM: 32GB? 64GB? Don't care. DDR5 a bonus, I guess.
Storage: Don't care
PSU: Anything decent with loads of warranty
Case: Nothing obscene, but not fussed. RGB shenanigans by no means essential.
Hell, even if your system goes over / under the CPU & GPU specs, throw it at me, and let's see if we can make something work.
Just a nice gaming tower that saves me the effort of building one from scratch, or him having to buy something from heave-tech.
Item Wanted: Recent-ish Gaming PC
Packaging Essential: Desirable, but not essential. Warranty details & PoP would be nice as well.
Desired Age: A year or so?
Location: Sandton, JHB
Willing to accept a shipped item: Would prefer local, but if unavoidable, we ship
Ballpark/Budget Amount: R25-45k... depends on the build and what it's missing or has extra
