Why isnt there a thread yet, thought to get it started.

Soooooo

Who think we can take it again?

What are your thoughts on the pre season first game?

Excellent the past weekend despite most of our first team already being in New Zealand.

Looking forward to seeing how we do against the All Blacks.

This thread is surprisingly quiet.

Wales tomorrow.. always a tight game. They played really kak against England though.

At 5 to 1 odds its worth a punt i reckon. We have the players. We have the bmt. I think we have a decent chance

I reckon takealot sold some tv's this weekend.

Next game, All Blacks on Friday. Maybe we will see Pollard play for a few minutes. Well, hoping we will. He apparently been training with the Squad quite a bit.

But he is not in the RWC squad?

No, but this weekend's game isn't part of the RWC. So he will play if fit enough.

Rassie and Nienaber have some trick up their sleeves should he be fit. Mark my words. Why else would they take 4 scrum halves? someone is going to get "injured" and drop out for Pollard to come in if he is fit enough.

Everyone is hoping Pollard will return but forget he didn't have a great accuracy record. According to an ESPN source, all international games is only 59.48%. Thankfully world cup stats is at 76.92 %. That's why in recent times we always had Morne Steyn on the bench. Now personally I'd also prefer him over Manie but I dont think he's the savior everyone is hoping for.

Well, that's the thing. His stats got better as the world cup went on. He is more accurate now than what he was on debut. Sure, he is no Morne Steyn, but what he lacks in kicking he brings in defense and crash ball. And he is brilliant game reader. And isn't slow either..

If Sa are going to focus on feeding the wings the entire RWC and run it every game then leave Manie there. If not, then we need Pollard.

Here is a nice video showing exactly what Pollard brings. Its not just his boot.

Club Rugby and NZ are different challenges......

Moments in there from games vs NZ. Think there some tries where he was first receiver and crashed through the NZ defense to score the try.

If on form, it is a no-brainer. But too many unknowns to tell.

I'm keen to watch the Rugby World cup this year but I don't a DSTV subscription. There looks to be a DSTV Stream Premium package going for R799pm.... holy crap! This is a touch too costly for me.

Can someone suggest another way I could watch the live matches?
Is there maybe an online service I can pay JUST for the rugby matches?

Thank you.

Well.. the boks beat the AB last night 35 - 7. And it was a stacked AB team too. It's the All Black's biggest defeat. Ever.
I am so afraid of peaking too early. But well played though, lots of positives.

But. AB attitude was a bit shit, mate your not King Richie, the ref wont want or need your validation or approval on decisions.

Just told the wife now that we still have to get a tester against EU opposition, EU refs, EU conditions, EU crowd.

Is it a month-to-month package or a contract? Like. Isn't RWC only a few weeks long anyway? Get one month then cancel?

Doubt we have peaked. I feel we could have done even better. We hardly used the backline in that game.

EU teams and EU refs is a good point. But I feel we are as ready as we can be at this stage.

I am trying to temper my expectations. I want us to do well, but the nagging feeling that we are not the complete package does not escape me.

Very much looking forward to it though, whomever wins. Just hope it is not England, their press will drive us nuts.

It's gonna be a good one, I reckon. Last night was epic to watch. Yes, we played against 14 men for half the game and yes, 2 yellow cards in the first 10-15min, but we forced them to make those mistakes. If we can play how we did in the first 20min consistently, we will do well. The AB defense was insane in that period, though. Give credit where it's due. We just used our possession more effectively. It also helped that Libbok kicked accurately, for a change.

It seems World Rugby has launched a streaming platform that can be accessed for free. I didn't dig too deep into this, but they do mention that there will be live coverage.

So how good was the Andre/Moodie combo? Moodie reads the other teams attack so well. Think Outside centre might be his position in future.

Manie's kicking of the tee was spot on but how insane was hes kicks to the corner it kept NZ on pressure, constantly hitting the 5m line, even from 30m+ out.

Think we took our time Nienaber/Rassie build depth (Flyhalf maybe only depth lacking unless pollard gets in) now start to gel nicely just before the RWC, and there's a lot to improve on especially finishing.
But our forwards and Bomb Squad I mean 7/1 against a NZ team and it worked, might give other coaches a lot to think about.
