Good day Community,

As some of you guys know that I have been working on a side hustle for quite some time now. I just want to find out how would a person implement a subscription onto my site. I currently have Payfast as an option so not sure if a person can use payfast to use a debit order system.
Reason why I am asking is so that I can start doing website hosting as well. I already have a VPS with a panel setted up. I am currently running 2 sites at the moment. But for clients side how would I implement a subscription ?

You can setup payfast as a debit order system. Look through the PayGate settings for payfast and just give it a proper read. It can provide most things you would need without need for an extra plugins.

I also believe that WooCommerce plugin has its own integrated subscription service you can provide to end-users. This is a paid add-on to the plugin though. You would be better off doing it with PayFast if you dont feel like paying imo because I wouldnt trust most of the WP plugins made by random users to handle my subscription service you know?

So I did manage to go through the documentation, I managed to get the Subscriptions sort of set up. So Woocommerce does have their own Subscriptions plugin as well and should intergrate with Payfast. But it doesnt.

I have enabled the Recurring billing on Payfast side. I have added a simple product with a Subscription option but now it shows that there isnt a Payment method upon check out

If you have any issues with setup you can actually contact Payfast and they have some developers that help you setup integration as far as I know. Might be a good idea just to ask them as I havent setup a payfast subscription for years.

After reading through these documents on payfast it seems that you might still have to pay the WooCommerce add-on fee to be able to run payfast subscriptions via WooCommerce now.

If I can recommend something you should maybe try and open a 3rd-Party website on checkout that is not run on WP or on WooCommerce so you can setup the subscription with a popup window or new tab window that doesnt run through your current website. This way you can probably directly setup a recurring bill via PayFast with some normal coding. Im sure the support channel from Payfast would be willing to assist in the correct process to do that, they have decent developer help there.

Will def look into contacting them. I see that the WooCommerce Subscription is $240 a year which is a lot. I have read up that you have to have the premium version in order to use other payment methods besides Paypal so yeah. Will hear from Payfast what is my solution there.

I see that they say on their site that you need the subscription

So i came across a cool website which isnt too bad at all to manage subscriptions.
MySubscriptions has a monthly fee of R9,99 and then charges R1 & 3% per transaction. Which isnt too bad compare to the WooCommerce Subscriptions.
