Hi All,
So I recently completed my 5600x build and I noticed that idle temp was 40 degrees and load temps are sometimes up to 90. I thought maybe the cpu cooler wasn't installed properly so i checked all 4 screws again. 3 are tight but the last one keeps turning. i think the threads on the cpu backplate are threaded. Is there anywhere I can buy the backplate? Motherboard is a asrock b550 steel legend.

mine with my 3600 was hitting 96 under full load with prism....but screw being loose and not tightening will be issue as it can pull down on the IC and make a flush surface to surface contact. If its just the back plate you can do one of the 2.

Rethread it with a tap and die
OR
pm one of the 3d print guys that do backplates and ask if he can print one for you, they are just as good as the OG

Anyone who has upgraded their cooler to a CM Hyper or similar might be willing to let go of their old backplate. Maybe post a wanted post for in your area.

I was actually looking to buy this from Oj0: Thermaltake Pacific C360 DDC Hard Tube RGB Water Cooling Kit with 360mm Radiator
Would it have the backplate?

I'm 99% sure it has everything needed to not rely on the motherboard's backplate.

If you look at this picture:

Two items to the right of the CPU block is a backplate - that has AMD mounting holes.

Additionally, includes:

  • 1 x Intel and AMD Universal Backplate & Mounting Kit
I've asked the suppliers to open one to confirm 100%.

x1 backplate I do indeed have - pay for shipping and it's yours

But, having done quite a few 5600X builds it does get quite toasty under load with the wraith cooler. You'd be a lot better of getting something like you mentioned above, or hell, even the CM MA410M does a really solid job

Completely off-topic, but @Oj0 you PP {yes that was intentional} is the Pillars of Eternity correct? :p

Yup. I have an A0 canvas print of it as well (still sitting in CPT from when I moved in 2016).
Thought so, been a wallpaper & other things a few times, phenomenal picture. my current favourite is the first 'image' of the black hole from last year. can't remember it's exact name but it's elp-sumtingsumtingsumting

Nevermind it's Messier M87, or M87 :p

Yay now i know where to get the 360 setup and at a good price too!

Confirmed, included :)

Might take you up on this. My lame ass couldn’t screw in a cpu cooler. trying to install open loop water cooling without any experience could be a bigger mistake

Really? While technically impressive, it has zero aesthetic appeal to me. It looks like something you end up with after following a 5 minute tutorial on how to draw a horse before realizing you have zero artistic skills.

xd yeah, but that image took more than 7 years to stitch together xD They literally had to wait for Earth Orbit to be in certain locations/angles for the light to refract properly in order to form a complete image. I can't remember the number but the total image size from all the pictures taken run into the GB's if I not mistaken lol.

Like I said, technically impressive. Aesthetically, not at all.

I would eat my chair it's "only" GBs, most of the panoramas I've shot have been around that size. The source was several petabytes if I recall correctly.
