Hey guys, so I was playing CSGO last night when all of a sudden I noticed the occasional colourful pixel on the screen, this couldn't really be seen unless against a black background when scoping in etc. But the pixel would change. I don't want to say it looked snowy because there were a few and they moved but it wasn't noticeable unless you really looked. Any idea what this is ? GPU dying?

I have a 144hz screen
750w Corsair PSU
GTX 770 Twin Frozr

Those are at least the components that might be causing an issue.

Hmmm... if it's a stuck or dead pixel on the screen, it'll usually be stuck to a certain colour or in some cases the monitor will detect that stuck pixel and disable it to avoid having a bright pink or green or red pixel and just have a black one instead.

Are you overclocking your GPU?

What are your GPU temps like?

*EDIT - I see in your sig your most used weapon is the SG553 - That's the problem. Use the AK, M4 or AWP. What you're experiencing is Valve's way of telling you to go play COD instead. :D :p :D Skalabala must have this exact same issue! :p

Temps not sure will have a look. The TwinFrozr comes with overclocking software which you can select the OC mode which it was running on will try gaming mode next... If it is artifacting, um then what do I do? New GPU?

Haha I those all now exclusively that was from my early days unfortunately have so many kills it will take a while to change to an AK on the stats :p

As far as I remember if you click again or reboot the card goes back to stock clocks. Test then rather.

You can try massaging the dead pixel. Sometimes it gets stuck. Lightly press it and it should go away. Though once they start appearing more tend to come if it is a dead pixel

I thought it was a dead pixel but they keep moving. incredibly tiny but you can see them if you look close enough.

Hahaha strangest image popped up in my head when i read this! =D

How do you reboot the card? Reinstall?

No no, I meant reboot the system. The overclock from the MSI Software only lasts for a boot session as far as I remember. Alternatively clicking the selected overclock again deselects it and returns the card to stock clocks.
Can't remember exactly, I never used the software much and now have a Gigabyte card.

He meant disable the OC in the software then save and reboot (methinks).

If the card is artifacting, and it's been running too "wild" of an OC, it might've damaged the chip and then you will probably have to replace the GPU IF it is that much of an issue to you, alternatively (if you're comfortable in doing this), you can rip off the old GPU cooler and apply some fresh thermal paste to the GPU and see if that makes any difference, but again, first check your temps, if they're not above 90°C, you should be fine - also, with how GPU-Boost works, the card will just ramp down the clock speed if the temps get too high.

Please... go away with your filthy ideas, there are children around... :p (We haven't received enough for Oj0's leg lenghtening yet).

Or go speak to TheFilthy - judging by his name, he is also a filthy bugger. :D :p Although, judging by his cars and computer, he is Filthy rich. :p

WarHeaD I cannot confirm or deny the allegations leveled against me.

As for the problem described in this thread, i think most replys are on the money, disable any kind of OC, check your gpu temps, and failing this, try a different monitor cable. Stranger things have happened.

Mmmm. Gotta give your monitor some luvvv

Just imagined a spa for screens. Where they can go to get a massage. Rows and Rows of screen, with small Thai ladies rubbing their elbows on the screens

Try the degauss button...

Hahahahahaha! Damn! Haven't thought about that happening in YEARS!! *GGGGONGGGG* and all the screens around you also flicker.

Remember touching the screen after it's gone on or off, absorbing the static electricity and then touching someone afterwards? Aaaaaah.... the good ol' days. Carting a 19" CRT to LANs. :p

Anyhow, sorry for the nostalgic derail, @OP - hope you come right. :)

I was imagining stroking it like a little doggie voicing little encouragements to it. "Good little pixel pixel" "You can do it little pixel pixel" "Come on pixel pixel, I know you can"

I am sorry to tell you sir.... But the pixel did not make it

Note he (hof27) said pixel pixel...that's what got me started on this much cleaner image. Ah well, it lived a good life, in dog years.

Pixel was a good... pixel. He was the light to our lives, and illuminated the path for us all.
Anyone else want to say some last words for Pixel? WarHeaD hof27 TheFilthy

He lived a good 60 000 hours life(not accurately calculated data)

Very unlikely. I have had my WD Red for 2 or 3 years now and it has done a little over 12k power on hours running 24/7 for most of it's lifetime which is a lot more than my monitor has been on. And this is a 144Hz monitor he is talking about so it can't be that old. Maybe at the most these pixels have experienced 20k hours of life, muck likely closer to 10 though.

I just Googled avarge life of and led on a monitor and typed the first number I saw. So don't take it as a fact

I had a strange colour pixel on my screen once, it was cross between lime yellow and strawberry pie, just couldn't put my finger on it
