Stolen Cellphone

You know as a community, as this site advertises itself, it's really disappointing to see so many people saying "Forget about it" , "It's gone, let it go" etc. As a community, we should be trying to prevent these kind of things, not just forget about them and let these blatant criminals get away with it.

I know the police will probably just brush this aside. (Not all, I know)
I know the club doesn't care
I know the bouncers don't care either

The one thing I did not expect though was for all of us to just lie down and let it go. There are so many tech savvy people on this site and a few others have also said that they have gone through a similar experience.

Making a difference starts with me and you, no one else. Looks like we just another statistic in a society that has accepted it's fate.

I might be preaching the gospel here but I honestly believe that there must be something that can be done. I am not expecting a full on Jason Bourne type S.W.A.T mission here. I could be wrong, I am not as clued up as most people on here, but surely someone works for a network company and can triangulate the last known area the phone was in. Or someone knows someone in the SAPS that will do this for a fee of some sort.

All I am trying to do is think of the other people who had theirs stolen as well. What happens if there is really personal info on there? What happens if it is leaked and their employer fires them for the breach? Yes you shouldn't keep that kind of stuff on your phone, but what if ........

You talk a lot about community, what exactly did you want an internet forum to do for you in this matter?

Your stuff got stolen, this is South Africa, it happens everyday to lots of folks..........

Well now you fucking pushed my nerve so let me answer you in the most appropriate manner possible

"it's really disappointing to see so many people saying "Forget about it"

Can we take down your club owner or his bouncers without facing repercussions and endangering our immediate family members?

Triangulate a signal to the last known co ords requires time money expertise also a validation "go-ahead" from network providers, if the sim
has been broken / discarded it needs to be reprovision which takes 48 HRS and cannot be done on weekends , you will ask how does he know CAUSE I dispatched aircrew & ground response teams on many canceled/bad debt clients during my 4 years at SA Largest Vehicle tracking Recovery company.

I just met an elderly gentleman today who came passed looking for another complex and pressed on my intercom by mistake, we stood outside a few minutes and we got talking about his bakkie he was so friendly :)

He then tells me his wife was robbed of her phone last week in a mall not a CLUB they broke her arms and legs in daylight, did he do anything/ could he do anything? I fisted the wall in anger cause had I still been on duty all my teams would be out and I would authorize shoot to kill as always !

A case comes to mind we Once tracked phones which was stolen from a well known retailer which led us inside a block of flats in hillbrow rocky street some time back and guess what happens when we rock up, culprits wearing staff uniforms balaclavas, we find an array of weaponry
hard cash drugs, credit cards, all gets taken to back with SAPS and sold within a few minutes to street dealers why you may ask because this
my friend is real life nothing will ever get done not in SA atleast ;)

So please do not preach that what you don't have proper facts on also let me remind you it is this very community who stood by me when my cousin was brutally killed years ago.

I am not sure what I expected, like I said I could be wrong because I do not know enough. Maybe I have literally watched to many movies where they seem to satellite track phones with a push of a button.

Perhaps an excuse, perhaps not valid, but I am reliving that night in my head over and over again. I can picture the guy that was watching us very clearly as well as a few others. Maybe I am still going through the motions of the blatant disregard for someone elses property which now seems to be insignificant to @SILTECH786 comment.

@SILTECH786 I do apologise for offending you, and I am even more sorry for your loss and maybe opening up old wounds. I hope you are to a certain degree keeping as well as can be and that someone is helping you through it still.
I to have lost many loved ones to the extent that I have no more family left at all, and the wounds will simply never heal, but they do get better over time.
