I have decided to submit an entry.

1. Post a reason why you OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW needs this and why it will not go to waste as well as the business you OR THEY want to start or grow :

I worked in mining, specifically shaft sinking, for the past 6 years but got laid off at the end of May this year. With my daughter, Winter, been born only in September of last year I had no choice but to immediately start making plans. So I ended up buying into the family bakery.

So now I'm baking rusks. I made up samples and started taking them to a lot of local businesses from Lambert's Bay to Cape Town along the N7 route and back along the Old West Coast road. Orders have been coming in but it's not nearly enough to pay for everything - especially medical aid. Thing is everyone wants VAT registration and stuff. I've been trying to create a Wix website but struggling and also domain payments and stuff will just add to a already very tight budget. Last night I had the idea of an online shop selling rusks, 3kg boxes at a time with shipping included. Also with an option to "build your own" like add some choc chips ,jelly tots, nuts etc.

We have a lot of plans for the future if the baby steps work out. My father is already making pizza bases, pastry's like pies and croissants - and I'm in the process of learning all of these. Importing and roasting coffee is another. On TV nowadays I see things like the "veldskoen" going international into EU and Australia etc. Why can't my Rusk be the next thing people in Europe indulge?

So I would like to encourage fellow Carbonites to please like my post. Here's a little intro I had planned for the Wix website:

The Road that led to the Whimsical delicacy in your hand, (hopefully in your mouth by now) started in chaos with a lot of difficult decisions made by a Mother, Father and an 8month old named Winter.
We packed up our things and moved back to the West Coast from the very far away town of Musina on the Zimbabwe border -armed with an arsenal of family recipes, a dream but not much of a plan yet…
So we baked. And it tasted good. We changed packaging, labeling, names and faces. Everything but our recipe. And change is constant, but we promise never to change our recipe or quality. We put all our love into every single product, making sure every last detail is of the quality you deserve. We live in a time of mass produce and haste, so sit down. Take your time. Eat with passion and enjoy the moment with a positive thought.
We thank you for your purchase. Keep in touch on our social media, we value your thoughts.
Here’s a picture of our daughter Winter.

Oh and I still don't know how to upload pics here, help me with this venture - baby steps like my daughter into walking and freedom. To infinity and beyond!!!

Nevertheless, People I thank you for your Time. And also, Mr PIF-giver you are a solid person my man,

If you end up getting the most likes, I would love to see your PIF being some of your rusks, sorry to hear about your job, but I am glad it is forcing you to achieve greater things in life.

Right, I gotta be that guy sorry. Why didn't we get the whole sob-story from you the first time?
And why don't you bend more? Why did you blatantly fly in the face of the rules earlier (with that other thread)?

I'll PIF a 3kg box for sure!

Again sorry but the idea is for the value to be kinda equivalent, so you'd have to give away a couple of such boxes which still wouldn't equal but at least feel closer to being fair.

Now this, this is an actual business that could greatly benefit from something like this PIF...

It is not just an idea, or an after thought. It is an actual, existing business that already has tons of thought, money and hard work put into it. I can see how some marketing and advertising could take this very far.

Regardless of this PIFF, please start the online business asap. Even if it is just a Facebook store front. 3kg packets with ~R120 courier/shipping fee?

Best of luck to you my dude. Cudos for doing something when it needed to be done. Keep on fighting and I hope Winter will have a loving childhood, wanting for nothing.

Yes it is. But it's also somewhat warranted and I couldn't figure out how to tone it down so here it is at full veracity. Consider it as a combination of truth-seeking and test.

Sir

Thanks for your well intended input. I have never been awarded a PIF, yet I have given a PIF. I went and read the rules and you are indeed correct. I would have no choice then, than to rather withdraw my entry - for obvious reasons.

With regards to the "sob" story. I don't feel like I need to explain myself to you. But a lot can change in a few days time, hence my decision to in the end give it a try.

I hope to you, all the best and more.

Regards

Heinrich

Mods don't you think Heinrich could be an exception to the PIF rules xD

See? That's what I mean. There's no bend. Test failed.

No my namesake, that's not how we respond. That passive aggressive courteous shit won't cut it.
You DO need to explain yourself to me. Yes I'm a random nobody on a tech forum who's just being an ass, but I'm not doing so purely cuz I'm a harsh heartless son of a gun, I'm doing so because you need to learn to bend. What if I were someone else and not just a nameless nobody, like an angel investor for instance? Well then you dun fucked up.
I'm not though so you're good but the point I'm trying to make is as a small start-up like you needs to treat every single person, even the biggest prick, as if they could potentially be someone to help move your business forward and respond as if that's exactly who they are.

You need to realise that as currently a nameless nobody yourself you need to give people a reason to trust in you. That means when selling you can't just sell at a fair price, which happens to be the same as the competition. You have to sell at an introductory price that undercuts the competition and gives someone who knows nothing about you a reason to select your product rather than the established brand, namely that you are cheaper. And no, that may not be sufficient money, but that's the only way to get a foothold, you can't simply trust in the quality of your product to do the talking.

People will respond harshly to you, they will push you around and try to take advantage of you and you do have to stand your ground but you also have to bend, to bow down and humble yourself and just about kiss their feet. Standing your ground too much is definitely not going to help you. Let people push, to a degree. Let people take advantage, to a degree. You simply have to or the chances of you surviving decrease drastically.

And you need to think things through more. To post here without fully knowing the rules is a grave mistake. If I had been in a position to invest in you that lack of attention to detail would be an instant reason for disqualification, passive aggressive response aside. And that's not the only rule you've smashed against.

I bent over for customers and it nearly cost me everything.

The world is a cruel place, most people see being humble as a weakness and wouldn't think twice to take advantage of that.

Sorry to derail gents, really hope this PIF sets someone on the right track.

You bent too far. Think things through. Neither one is gonna get you there, bending over too much is gonna get you screwed and not bending at all is gonna get you ignored.

What you have to figure out is what you'd like and what's fair. And then how far you can let people push you from that from that for how long BEFORE you are actually in a position where someone is forcing you to do so. Once you know that you can "begrudgingly" bend to a level you had already anticipated and were prepared for. Showing both that you can stand your ground but know you're a small fish in a big pond.

Just like selling on Carb, you don't sell at 1K+ retail on Carb, but you also don't straight away advertise the item at it's lowest you are willing to go either.

And yeah this may be a derail as far as the PIF goes, but I also believe at least some of it is valuable info the type of person the PIF is trying to attract so still kinda relevant.

This thread is so far off the rails. Schumi, how many businesses have you started?

Do you think if a guy with a passion for cars will make it if he builds a vehicle with his bare hands and try to compete on price with a mass produced product? I would bet quite a substantial amount that the chances are slim to none. This is where quality sets you apart.

Heinrich, all the best.

FOR THE SAKE OF THIS PIF, I AM VALUING THIS PIF @ R300, TO BE FAIR, IF YOU GET THIS PIF AND CAN GIVE BACK MORE THAN THE R300 VALUE THEN IT IS IN YOUR MORAL RIGHTS TO DO SO. IF YOU CANNOT, THEN R300 WORTH IS ALL I AM ASKING THAT YOU PAY FORWARD FROM THIS.

Mine is simple and less work for you. I have a tablet Surface Pro 3 (non working) to PIF back though (screen needs to be checked out)

I need company reg and Email with hosting and website (very basic site)

The rest I have and can do, Maybe a little help here and there:)

Without giving away anything. I have the company layout, premises and business all in the pipelines. I just need the last few things to be done (website cards and so on) it's got to do with the baking sector and supplying them with a certain product. Machinery and raw materials are all sorted.

I can give details to OP but not keen on sharing them on here.

Like here for free and fair elections ... sorry wrong post, like here to help 12 people get jobs.

So here is my bit to this ... Yes we have rules to keep the integrity of this site in tact but in this case i feel the rules screw over somebody deserving in this case ... just because he has yet to contribute to the PIF section . @Heinrich_ZA , i am not a web designer or anything but if doing something as small as getting you a domain and helping you try and get a basic site up and running to get your company name out there , i am willing to pay for the domain and webhosting for the next 12months if nothing more comes from this entire thing .. my friend we all face some uphill battles sometimes and I know my contribution might be very small in the bigger scheme of things , Also my wive has a thing for rusks she would be very upset if i don't do my part to get the best rusks out there to the rest of SA and maybe oneday you can also become a house hold name like Ouma Greyvenstein :D

That's basically between one and two of your packets @Heinrich_ZA
Seems luck is on your side and you are still in the running. And clearly have ample assistance from @Thanatos33 even if your luck fails, although at this point I don't see how it can.

Please post your entry. You never know what may come of this.

@Stefan007 This is a very valuable PIF and, in accordance with the PIF rules, the recipient needs to PIF something of equal or greater value.

I think we can agree that someone needing this bundle is in no position to PIF what is basically a brand new Radeon 5700, so perhaps list a minimum value you think is acceptable for the PIF.

Edit: Oh, you've already done so.

He did that in his main post. He said R300 :)

He said he's valuing it at 300 bucks for the purposes of return PIF
