So I bought a Sony ZV-1 off marketplace a few months back. Worked like a charm.
Today it goes into pink screen mode, lens starts opening and closing on its own, just overall unresponsive. The camera basically goes bonkers.
After letting it cool down, I try using it again, and its responsive for the first few seconds then just goes back to being defective.
I have contacted Premium Brands, and they say that Sony cameras only have a 1 year factory warranty.
I do not have the original invoice, so I dont know if its a year since purchase or not (they will not honor a factory warranty without proof of purchase).
Im at my wits end right now. Premium Brand says there is a R250 inspection fee to quote me, and if I accept the quote then the fee gets offset.
The issue I have, is that I dont know if this is a R200 problem or a R10 000 problem.
Also, I feel a little done in by Sony. As the camera is perfectly fine one day, then it randomly decides to drop me the next.
Would have been more of a Sony fanboy if Sony acknowledged that its their fault and replaced whatever at their own cost.
Any advice on what I can do from here? Or if you know of any camera repair people that can assist and not charge me an arm and a leg?
This is my primary camera for shooting YouTube videos, so production has stopped till I figure out something else.
