So sad how people can do this

Everyone pays schooling fees one way or another, personally I opted for the 10minutes of reading on how to go about dealing on Carb and what to avoid (Most commonly, and stated on many threads... New members approaching other new members wanted ads and only dealing over pm) others prefer to pay their way through school.

Would I need a reseller sub if I provide a "tutorial" service where I scam new members for schooling fees, return 90% and keep 10% as service fees?

Sorry for the rough introduction to Carb, it really is a warm fuzzy family here, but to be blunt it was just your negligence to research A) How to deal & warning signs B) The person you were buying from. Things like the iTrader are paid for and there for a reason. Use them.

http://carbonite.co.za/f2/guide-safe-dealing-carbonite-117748/ good place to start, MUCH more information on the forum on the matter.

Man some of these replies. Don't blame the forum because you were stupid and gullible, go see if the other forums are better, you got burned get over it. Then saying this is a family community.

This is what prophecy forum has become?

Can you honestly blame some of us for not being sympathetic towards the OP?!

I took offence because of his "gonna delete my account from here and never buy from forums like this again" comment because it gives the impression that he's attempting to blame Carb for his stuff-up which I don't appreciate.
He (perhaps unknowingly) tries to paint the entire forum in a bad light because he didn't do his homework (and didn't use his common sense) and got burned.

The same way we blame Gumtree for the individual scams that go on there? Responding to an emotional post with another emotional post wont help. We should be showing him that the forum that could be trusted, not that we are going to call him an idiot.

Lesson learned move on...im sure you will make that R500 back buying well looked after second hand stuff here...as mentioned before 99% of us are genuine...Hope you learned that looking at join date ,post count and feedback score is important .

If you don't get the point that I'm trying to make then I'm not going to paint a picture for you.

Speak for yourself please.

Yes Gumtree etc. are full of scammers but why would I blame Gumtree or any classifieds site for the scamming that goes on there? It's ridiculous.
It's merely a platform for people to buy and sell goods and I've personally done plenty of trades on Gumtree, OLX, Junkmail etc. without a hitch because I use my damn noggin.

Unfortunately though there are way too many people that don't hence why scamming is rife.

The only thing that separates Carb from those sites is the itrader system, the strict moderation/administration and the "community (trust)" thing we try to maintain here however one should still apply the same basic safety principles when doing a deal on Carb as one would apply on other more dodgy classified sites.

I'm done here.

Ai more stuff to add to the "list of things that offend a person 2016"

Something I really don't understand the mentality of the people in SA, the whole: "Oh it's only R500, lesson learnt, move on"

In all fairness if I was scammed for R2 I would go through the ends of earth to make it hell for that R2 they scammed off me, I would make it a living hell for that person so if he/she ever considers scamming again they'd think twice.
The problem is that we compounding/contributing to these damn criminals by allowing them to get away with whatever amount they can scam... R500 here R500 there and next thing you know his got R50000 in the bank and 100 people scammed but no one doing anything about it. Case in point the Groenwalds. Why do we live in such a broken society that honest people are willing to accept being scammed is a life learning lesson?

You sir although have a valid point , must remember better things are always to come. Why sit and focus your energy on something that will not get you far. I always believe that what you've lost will come back to you ten fold as long as you remain positive.

I am not saying let the criminals get away with it, but sometimes you just need to let go.

I say you take things as far as possible ;) Nothing good comes from those who wait

The community have adopted this "only R500" attitude because the community and mods have gone to crazy lengths and have done all they can to prevent this sort of thing, think the next step would be something ridiculous like having mods approve your pending deal with someone so they can apply some common sense that clearly some people are missing:confused: So can you blame them and the community for getting sick and tired of seeing the same thing time and time again despite all the effort put in to prevent it? Have you seen the rate that staff are banning suspect scammers? So in this case op is lucky it happened to only be R500 for a bit of RAM when he could've easily been taken for much more for say a gpu due to the way he handled the deal with no care at all. What happens afterwards is on the scammed to take action, if the scammed decide to say its only R500 so no use crying over spilt milk and delete his Carb account that's on him, if he decides to open a police report and do something about it he has the backing of the community which have provided a lot of support, hell mods have even started collecting all known scammers info to share with everyone.

That's it, lesson learned, I'm walking from now on.

You have to cancel your car before you go on walking. LOL

HiToKiRi if this was your first time going through something like this with a much higher amount of money and got scammed via your bank dealer, who would you blame? No need for your rude comment and other thing is I'm over it and living my life.
