TBH guys - these prices are nothing new.

These days MOST games comes with a few DLC's ( Gaming Cancer ). Paying for all of them upfront rather than having to hassle later is a fairly common practice.

I haven't played Rift for a while and recently returned to find a TON of new content. Instead of getting each DLC or expansion indivdually , I just opted to get the full thing RIFT: Ultimate RIFT Edition on Steam

Look at World of Warcraft too - How much are each expansion you'd need to play from the base game ? Sure they sometimes have some clever way to get people in , but R1500 - R2500 for a collectors edition or some edition that includes all future DLC's isn't that bad.

Admittedly , it's VERY expensive in our terms, but in dollars if you're paying $99 for a collectors edition it's not alot.

Battlefield 1 Premium Plus is another example. R1899 for the base game + all DLCs ? so maybe 4 - 5 DLC's ?

I struggle to see how GoW and Titanfail 2 fall in the same boat though that eludes me.

I am a WoW fan boy so take my comment with a grain of salt. I paid R700 for the new expansion. I then paid R200 for game time so R900 in total. I will be playing WoW for a year+- for this R900 since you can buy game time with gold in game. Hell i am more than willing to pay the extra R200 every month if i need to. i just don't go out for one friday and then i can afford my game time.

To get the base game + Legion + 1 month game time + 2x level 100s it will cost 80 usd (R1136.82)

My 2c worth:

I have never really been in the position to afford cutting edge pc components. Hence most games were played at settings which guaranteed playability, rather than looking good.

Recently found myself going back to my older games (which builds which are now even rated as old can run with a smile and jacking everything up to the highest settings). There are some hours to be spent playing old games the way it was meant to look.

I can run BF4 on ultra for the most part, and BF1 was playable on high, not quite payable though...

I have to find a high res tweak for Dungeon Keeper.
