Hi, sorry if this post is in the wrong section. Just want to let the user know that its possible to verify EFT payments made from FNB accounts.

When the buyer send you and FNB proof of payment, go to the fnb.co.za website and click on "verify payments" on the top righthand side, under the login details fields.

Just enter the details that can be found on the proof sent, and FNB will verify the transaction.

Would be nice if the other banks had this feature aswell.

FNB has had this feature for years now. Was a bit shocked to discover standard bank doesn't. Don't know anyone that uses the other 2 :p

It's been around for awhile, but I still find the best way to verify payment is seeing it in your account as cash available.

Yeah, but how do you validate an account holder for transactions less than R5000. That would be nice.

Not reliable at all, payment can still be dishonored before it clears into your account.

The ONLY way to verify payments is have the money clear in your account.

... And the way to do this is "Pay and Clear" , for a mere R.38 extra , the money is available within 60min. for the Seller to withdraw before a dishonest Buyer can reverse the transaction ....
Which is why I bank with FNB (among many other perks).

I wonder just when the Code of Banking Practice will be amended to stop clearing cheques before they've been verified.
