Does anyone have any insight why the Ryzen 5800X3D is STILL so ridiculously expensive in SA? I mean, prices has barely come down since launch.

I see Wootware currently has the 5900X for R6999 but the 5800X3D is still super expensive at R7799. I find it odd seeing that the latter is a lower priced CPU both in MSRP and actual retail in other markets, and yet it costs way more here? How does that make sense?

I mean here is another way to explain why I think it is seriously overpriced in SA. Just before the 5800X3D came out the 5800X has been 18 months on the market and its price came down from $450 (launch MSRP) to $350 during that period. The 5800X3D has been 18 months on the market and its price has come down from $450 to $320 (which is even lower). At the same time that the 5800X cost $350 it cost "a mere" R6700 at Wootware. Hence another reason why I think the 5800X3D is currently more than R1.2k overpriced at Wootware.

Could this perhaps be setting the stage for a nice BF deal on the 5800X3D? Lol.

Yeah, so I was checking out the prices for the 5800x on Amazon it's going for R4710.94, but over at Wootware, it's a bit cheaper at R4499.00. The 5800x3d is playing in the R7561.85 range, but at Wootware is a bit more at R7799.00. Not too bad if you're still in the market for a good chip. Seeing reviews on the am5 setups I'm seriously sticking to am4 or rather thinking of supporting team blue again till amd and mobo manufacturers sort out their ordeal.

I've been keeping tabs on these two for over a year now. Picked up the 5800x earlier this year on special for around R4500. Black Friday is around the corner, so maybe a good time to get one at a discount, but then again, Cyber Monday is also in the game.

Honestly, South Africa isn't the best for Black Friday deals. They tend to jack up prices and then slap on a 'special' tag in November. I'm eyeing some stuff directly from Amazon.com this year, hoping to score a sweet deal on an Asus ROG Strix B550-F Gaming WiFi II board. Need to replace the dead-on-arrival one I got earlier this year. Fingers crossed for a good deal!

Also remember Wootware do not always get major discounts as they hardly buy their hardware in bulk, mostly their specials are when the suppliers have discounted pricing as well.

The 5800X3D ($320) is more expensive than the 5900X ($299) on Amazon. In what market is the 5900X priced higher than the 5800X3D?

It's probably still so pricy because of demand. Everyone wants one, and they're willing to pay a premium. Until demand slows, there's no motivation to drop the price.

As for black Friday, at least at Woot, they are doing week-long "black November" deals, and it says on the site the discounts won't be beaten on Black Friday itself. Meaning that, unless the 5800X3D is one of the weekly discounts this month, I doubt they'd drop it on the day. Progenix is doing something similar.

I doubt they'd cut the price very much on such an in-demand item. But I could be wrong.

I agree with @goldfritter sentiments, when I bought my X3D earlier this year the cheapest I found it was for R6999 and that was maybe about R300 off the normal retail.

I have a simple answer: Supply Vs Demand, 5800X3D remains in high demand. Also some fo your assumptions and statements are wrong as pointed out by other carbies.

A yes... we all out here tryna get frames for Tarkov xD

I am also am watching the X3D cpus closely as black Friday approaches.
The Rand is currently in the kakhuis and we also pay VAT and duties on top of the price you see online overseas.

Hoping it comes down a bit more on Friday.

I checked a retail shop in the USA (Micro Center). Also, good point about Wootware's pricing, I missed that.

Haha yes, I realized my mistake this morning, I forgot to account for the rand depreciation, I think that is the most important factor.

Sucks though to have to upgrade to such a top tier CPU just to get tarkie to run a bit better LOL.

It does suck but hey, at least you don't need to do a full platform upgrade. AM4 really is the gift that keeps on giving.

Alsooooo I've seen rumours that two new AM4 5000X3D parts are in the works: 5500X3D and 5700X3D. I have no idea whether we'll actually see them for sale, but it's worth keeping an eye on it.

Interesting, reading between the lines of how Gamers Nexus reviewed the 5600X3D and also the fact that it is a Micro Center exclusive, I thought that it sounded conclusive that the 5600X3D would be the last AM4 part. But who knows, I am guessing uptake on AM5 is slow.

Highly doubt there will be sufficient stock for international release, these are likely failed 5800x3d which the 5600x3d already has taken a chunk of. 5500x3d is a weird product to exist given the 5600x3d exists.

I can loan you some frames bru. I'm getting over 200FPS at this point.

Stock will be tight but clock speeds should be about 400MHz lower for 55/5700X3D compared to the 56/5800X3D so it looks like AMD is using up all the silicon that couldn't clock to the base spec.

Seems like wins all round - cheaper CPUs for gamers, AM4 lives on for one last dance, no wasted sand & AMD lines their pockets

EPIC! I'd like to go up to a DDR-5 based system with 7800X3D/7900X3D Processor. The TDP and temps looked lower than comparative intel offerings when I had a look. Currently on an "older" 3900X CPU.

Annoyingly with Woot's current special the 7800X3D is only R 700 more than the 5800X3D. Which looks mighty tempting, if not for the cost of a new mobo and RAM.

Yea bru, I went from a 3700X to this and the difference is incredible hey. Tarkov is now my bitch. Just not the PMCs or Scavs or player scavs or raiders or guards or bosses. But everything else is my bitch.

I did the Tarkov Streamer challenge (placed 237th out of 1500 streamers, with many dropping out cos it wAs bOrINg even though we had the brief before the time)... It was 8 hours per day on each map... streets was... a chore... hahaha

Yea no, screw that bru. Watched some of WillerZ' highlights, lools like it would get incredibly boring extremely quickly.

I have a 5600 with a RTX 3070 and my frames tank to like 40-60 on Streets on 1080p, it is incredibly annoying. I have 32 GB RAM. It was running at 3200 MHz (XMP) but I have since optimized it to run at 3600 MHz (confirmed 12% improvement) but it did not make a massive difference on Streets (but it did slightly)

I blame all these shitty new games, but I blame the customers buying the games even more.

The games require people to upgrade, therefore pushing demand higher, therefore no need to drop prices.

If shitty games are no longer being bought, then watch as prices go down.

Quick question around the 5800X3D: Is it really worth it? I have a 3600X and a 7800XT, I can't help but feel that there should be a bottleneck, but I'm trying to understand if forking out for the 5800X3D will be worth the money? Will it not be better to just wait for new gen stuff to come and then upgrade the CPU/Mobo/RAM? I'm also rocking 16GB DDR4 3200Mhz on a B550-A. Thanks!

Short answer, Yes.

Long answer, VERY MUCH YES.

Imo the 5800x3d is the 2500k (or 4th gen K series) of this decade, it will be able to stay relevant for a longer time than average lifecycle of a gaming cpu.
