Hey guys. So I have a laptop that I would like to give away I already know the person it will go it. But. Everything is currently using my wife's info. I don't want to format as I'm not sure they can afford windows etc. Is there a way I can remove her as a user remove all non windows data and almost have like a log in with the new user for the first time. Like it would be after a fresh install? Is this possible?

You could reset windows. This will remove everything but leave windows in place. If it's windows 8 and above

Control Panel - Users - Create new user

Follow the prompts to create new user

Save all files etc. While logged in under the current (wife's) profile

Log out of wife's profile and log in to newly created profile

Control Panel - Users - Delete (remove) User

Remove wife's profile

Hand over the laptop

If Windows is already activated, you can format it. It will re-activate automatically after install if connected to the internet.

Totally understood. How can I do a clean install for the current license I have if that makes sense? I bought this laptop from work so I'm not entirely sure how to proceed.

If licence is in bios, it should detect it automatically.
Otherwise use Produkey to view the key

Don’t even need to do that much.

You can reset the machine through windows with the options of keeping all your files or deleting everything.

Have a read
