Description of Bad Deal:

Following has been posted incorrectly in the smack talk forum.

Good day Carbonite



I would like assistance regarding a purchase I made from one of the members. We had come to an agreement on 17 November 2023. Payment had been made the same day and I was assured that delivery would be arranged asap. I gave it time as the member had said they had some difficulties. Once I was told that delivery was not being arranged the member suggested meeting as they were going to be close to where I live during the following weekend. I agreed to this.



The member was seemingly transparent and easy to communicate with throughout. Then the day came for them to travel and the bigger excuses started to come out. This ranged from terrible vehicle trouble, to a possible traffic collision. I was told that they were not injured though I sympathised. I continued to try and arrange a meeting to get what I paid for but then messages started being delayed as if only going through once they opened WhatsApp. During this debacle I asked for the money to be returned and said once we meet I would take possession of the item and gladly pay them for it again. The member agreed to this term.



Since then I have asked for the money I have been met with various excuses as to why it hasn’t be paid back. Bank delays and a specific bank being at fault. I was sent a screenshot showing the money being paid but it does not show my details, only that it was paid out of their account.



The member graciously provided details about themself that I had not asked for such as a photo of their ID and where they were from. I found that to be a genuine act of sincerity. Now I feel as if I had been led on continuously. I do not know why they bother replying to my messages as they keep kicking the can down the road. Further examples of this come in the form of telling me they have an account with the same bank I use yet when I ask for the payment to be made I have to wait for the message to go through, then for it to be read, then wait for a reply. The reply comes hours later and it starts with apologies and says nothing about payment being made yet I’ve provided my details on more than one occasion. This has continued to this day as I was told by the member that payment would be made. I will tell you all that at the time of making the post I have not heard back from the member, therefore I feel I need to act. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.



The product is a used gpu. I had sold my gpu off forum in an effort to cut down the cost of buying this one. Therefore I am unable to post this with my pc, typing all of this on my phone. I know I seem foolish but I did not have this problem on Carbonite before as the community are generally friendly. Sucks that this happened.

@rockstar79 why would you pay R8k to a member who has not a single rating to their name?
This issue is being resolved.
Just waiting on Feedback from a family member if they already paid or not and if it was a immediate payment.

Spot Money (Bidvest bank) messed up with their wierd T's & C's

Honestly I was dealing with a couple people including him. Then he dropped his price and ,without telling my life story so publicly, I am not in a place to turn down a price reduction.

Im also in contact with him, Im also part of this possible scam. He told me the same about Spot money, taking 1-3 days.

His story to me was, he is in Warden for a visit, he was arranging the delivery.

Then the stories began, the Courier guy was mostly part of the excuses.

After some time, the told me the card is gone, he will pay back my money.

The contact with him got harder, I came to the conclusion that I have lost the money.


I have his id, and some screenshots I believe we got scammed.


Hard pill to swallow, losing this amount of money.

Yes exactly this. Except came to Durban for holiday.
 
I want @Shaw94 to see this, because I actually believe we have the right guy. I also know that he goes by two different surnames, and I have his place of work, his contact information, his family's information, etc.

There's already a fraud case open against his name, and another will be added soon, unless he can come to the party here and clear up this mess. In other words, pay back the money.
 
@DeathMilkshake will get his money tomorrow, will go to a capitec atm and deposit the funds since he blocked my bank and I can not access that funds.
Once he then retracts his statement / Fraud case to unblock my account @rockstar79 will then get paid as well seeing as that I can't access the account at all.
They can also send the entire Carb community the proof afterwards.

Also waiting on Standard Bank...

No you already proved untrustworthy. IF you pay back the money, which you obviously haven't done yet, THEN the cases can be dropped. Not a second before.

Update:

As of yet, still nothing. @Shaw94 is not responding. He never confirmed a specific time but I knew it was going cold.
 
does he go by the name jp perhaps? from hartbeestpoort? this guy guy was admint i send him moneey and currior collect a 3080 instead of me taking the 1 hour drive to collect myself
 
@eazytech that's the guy, yes. You were also scammed? I'm including you in the PM chain then.
 
Tjoh I was scammed through Facebook thou hense I didn't say anything but the excuses from the other guys sounded fimiliar
