RDR2 coming 5th November to PC

Review so far.
Preloaded the game, and thankful for it. Gave me more time to actually play.
Some stuttering and lag, but if I disable my antivirus, all goes smoothly.
Had to update the Nvidia drivers 441.
Had to start the game in admin mode.
It glides as smoothly as a ghost, awesome frame rates, beautiful detail, superb game play.
34inch Ultrawide 144hz monitor, 1080ti Zotac. FPS between 68 to 98 at present. (5120 x 2160) DSR enabled.
Does give me lag on all Ultra settings though. So some things on High only. Still, the graphics is awesome, much much better than the PS4.

TIP: If your graphics looks MEH, make sure you are not in SAFE mode. (for me, disabling antivirus solved the problem)
This is worth every single minute and sent I spend on it. Great game.

Stay on ultra and drop.water to medium. Water is very taxing on FPS

Love that water reflections and detail, eishh. Will try it this afternoon. Only a few HIgh settings, most on Ultra though. Thanks.

So on 4k with a lot of settings between medium and high, textures and tessellation on ultra I get avg 45 fps with 1080 Ti when running the benchmark, 47 if I leave it at the games default which puts the slider right in the middle op performance and quality.
I use the games TAA set to medium as MSAA and FXAA aren't great, they cause flickering on fine object like hair

On 4k with slider set to max performance I almost get 60fps avg lol

I used this article to help play around with the settings Red Dead Redemption 2 Most Important Graphics Options - Every Setting Benchmarked

So played the first 45 minutes of it last night. There is still a lot of room for the game to be polished up a bit. Like everything set to ultra - and some of the textures were quite buggy or very very low res.

Gott the odd white frame here and there.

Was watching a cut scene of 2 characters walking out of a house having a conversation and were half way through walking through the door, and the scene immediately jumps to them on horse back having the conversation exactly where they left off from the house. Was a bit immersion breaking. Hopefully there are some Quality of Life updates. But no Regrets.
Appears to be a port nonetheless and they had a whole year extra to have worked on the game properly.

Why do gamers support this kind of abuse From developers.

I'm just glad my experience on the PS4 pro is great. Yes the game will get improvement patches and get better. But that's no excuse for the already 1 year delay to releasing it in my opinion.

So the old story of wait awhile before purchase will be my moto, I think I will wait for the steam release in December so that most of the buggs will be sorted out

And maybe you can try get it for around R650 or so.

For me its because its the very fact that its a port that makes it so difficult to run on PC - remember the reason it runs so well on consoles is that every console's hardware is the same .... same motherboard, same GPU, same set of drivers, same memory etc etc - so building a game to run predictably and optimally is infinitely easier.

When building a game for pc - you have to a number of possible configurations of CPU, drivers, graphics cards, operating systems etc etc etc - so you basically have to rebuild the game from the down up.

I played RDR1 when it originally came out - paid 699.00, got it on xbox 360.. and I was ecstatic when RDR2 came out on PC - and I want to support the title so more can be made ... and for PC.

Its not just a case of re-porting the controls and publishing the game.

Admittedly there is a lot of room for polish - but even games specifically made for PC come with bugs - so I am not overly upset with the current condition of the game - and it makes me appreciate it when its fixed.

Don't get me wrong, it's a brilliant game. I'm slowly getting into it on console and man, PC experience must be even better.

Just hope when GTA VI releases on PC it is alongside the console release and not a year later.

Anyone with a 2080ti and this game. I want to know maxed out at 21:9 3440x1440 with AA off what frame rates you get

Was one of the lucky ones with constant freezes.
Disabling the CPU cores workaround fixed it for me.

Used the Process lasso app settings from the above :

I still can't even launch the damn game. I preloaded it, came home Tuesday night hoping to jam some, got the annoying "launcher exited unexpectedly" error.

After the patch yesterday, that error stopped popping up. Now, however, I'm getting a different error. The new error is "The Rockstar Games Services are unavailable and offline play could not be verified (code 149)".

I even uninstalled, deleted, redownloaded (all 112+ GB of it) and clean installed everything related to Rockstar to no avail (GTA5 included).

Try this

I've been getting error code 149 as well but got the game to launch 2 times and I'm playing it fine right now. I noticed after literally just spamming the play button after constantly clicking away the error it just eventually launches for me, windows defender firewall and everything still enabled, I don't have any other antivirus. Hopefully this works for anyone else getting this error! I do also have the game added as an exception too in my windows defender which I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it but I thought I'd just add that.

Personally, I have the rdr2.exe and the launcher exe added to the exclusions. I've also tried the antivirus bit. I've tried spamming the play button but I can only click it that many times before losing my shit. :p

I just added the whole rdr2 folder to exclusions and haven't had a single issue in-game thus far.

From this it seems around 105fps avg, 74fps 1% lows.

Worth the watch if you're considering to buy.

EDIT: Those are high settings, no AA.

It seems while I was belly-aching a new patch dropped for the launcher. It seems to have fixed the issues for me. Running maxed settings at 1080 and it runs buttery smooth. Looks rather remarkable. Quite significantly better than what I have on the Xbox and a crappy old LCD TV. :D

Just busy with Outer Worlds. As soon as im done with that, ill be joining the wild west.
Hopefully by then it will be available on Steam. If not.....

I didn't watch the video but there is no chance a 2080ti will run the game maxed out at 105fps on 4k

That's the high settings. On Ultra it's a lot lower.

You should get between 50-65 I think, guessing from benchmarks I've seen

But there are some settings that are very demanding without adding much that can be lower, you should be able to achieve a low of 60, not sure what you're targeting

60... But Imma wait a bit until bugs get ironed out etc

From a person that never waits for stuff WTF :) dont use "bugs" as an excuse it is ok to say no porn in the game available

Man I am .................add a irritated swear word here. 19 hours of play, this morning the damn game does not want to scale to my ultrawide. Keeps on going in huge mode, can,t even see the settings etc as it is off screen, so can not change it. Seems to not want to save my settings.........useless, can,t play. Any ideas, help around here..........

My card was getting quite bit hot like 87degrees playing all on ultra and high so dropped some settings to medium and high now much better temps and running between 50 and 80 fps there between.

Game running smoothly and the environment is just amazing

Not sure, perhaps delete the config settings but then you gonna have to redo all key mappings etc again :(

Or if you know what the settings should be, edit the .xml.

Thanks. I managed to set the resolution to 5120 x 2160 and that seems to work for now. Many small glitches introducing itself after this latest launcher update. Game work now (still have to reset full screen mode, every time I start the game) Also, for some reason my items can not be selected with the mouse anymore, weapons and horse items work, but for the life of me I can,t eat a damn piece of cocaine chewing gum............:)
