Anyone been using the new Rain One package?
Unlimited 5G @ max 30mbps + 2 Sims For R559 seems like a good deal. Currently paying +-R750 at Afrihost but that is 30mbps + one of their Air Mobile packages

How is the experience with Rain themselves, their FB page seems to suggest service is pretty abysmal
Looking to swtich from fibre to the above but if the quality of connection + service is a issue then yea might not lol

Switching from fiber to Rain to save a little bucks is not worth it. The complaints all over the web are very valid. Service levels are indeed abysmal. Connection speeds and reliability are very hit and miss. Extremely poor and erratic. Cheap, but comes at a toll.

Eish well thats a no go for me then
Yea not worth the ballache to save a few bucks a month, I'll stick to fibre then
Thank you for your input sir

My Girlfriend uses it, and she does not complain. But it's for series and working from home.

But I don't think it's suitable for gamers/heavy users.

Very much depends where you are and what sort of signal you get. I'm probably 200m from the nearest tower, so I get up to 420mbps downloads with Steam, uploads are fine to stream on Discord without issue.

Latency and signal stability are worse than fibre though, so you'll get the occasional blip.

My brother recently tried Rain and gets exactly no signal so can't use it at all. So if you're near the towers with strong signal, it's an option. If not, stick with what you have. Rain also throttle torrents quite heavily so if you download a lot of community-supplied entertainment it's not a good option really.

Works just fine for me and most of the games I play are online multiplayer.

But again, as with anything wireless, it really depends on your signal strength. Fiber will always be superior.

Thanks guys, good points made thus far.
I'm unfortunately right on the fringe of Rain's coverage in quite a hilly area (literally a ballhairs width in their coverage zone) so I have a sneaking suspicion signal is gonna be hit & miss.

What is blind is there is no option to get a SIM and demo the connectivity at your premises? So if you buy in and its no good your screwed.
Whelp as the saying goes "Rain rain go away come again another day", I'll stick with fibre for now lol
