Description of Bad Deal:
Seller advertised an EVGA RTX 3070 XC3
I expressed interest and chatted to him on Whatsapp. I asked him for a location to ascertain whether it would be worth me driving to collect the card. It turned out to be a 160km round trip and with life being hectic right now I decided to opt for courier.

I then asked him if he would PUDO the GPU to me, he said that was fine. I got his banking details and paid for the card on Wednesday the 14th. It was a standard EFT so it only cleared the morning of Friday the 16th. He was at the dam with his family so he said he would only send on Saturday which he did.

Fast forward to Monday, I asked him for an update, he sent me evidence of it being in transit and that I would most likely receive the GPU on Tuesday.

On Tuesday he notified me it was ready for collection. I went to pick it up, open the locker and it's in a flyer bag which already had me a little worried. I opened the flyer and found the GPU wrapped in this.

I unwrapped the GPU and found it looking like this

GPU damage
I contacted the seller and voiced my displeasure.

WhatsApp chat
I was unable to export the earlier chat but have provided it in image form. Also willing to share the voice note if need be.

Below is the exported chat

20/06/2023, 16:34 - Jack Killanofilla Smith: Thanks

20/06/2023, 16:35 - Jack Killanofilla Smith: Got 4k on me now. Can I make payment tomorrow please

20/06/2023, 16:36 - Steven: Sure

20/06/2023, 16:38 - Jack Killanofilla Smith: Cool

20/06/2023, 19:05 - Jack Killanofilla Smith: PTT-20230620-WA0031.opus (file attached)
Edit: this is the voice note where he asks me if I would consider a R500 refund and to keep the card

20/06/2023, 19:30 - Steven: Suppliers void warranty if they see physical damage

20/06/2023, 20:11 - Jack Killanofilla Smith: It's not damaged that bad but okay

20/06/2023, 20:13 - Steven: If you can get confirmation from the distributor that it doesn't, then it's. I've seen warranty voided for less

21/06/2023, 19:55 - Steven: Hi Jaco, any news regarding this?

21/06/2023, 22:27 - Jack Killanofilla Smith: Hey Steven will let you know tomorrow

21/06/2023, 22:31 - Steven: Thumbs up emoji
22/06/2023, 11:20 - Jack Killanofilla Smith: Morning Steve

22/06/2023, 11:20 - Jack Killanofilla Smith: Hope you doing good buddy

22/06/2023, 11:21 - Jack Killanofilla Smith: I spoke to Wootware and luckily they seem to be chill about the damage on the backplate. Should I tag you into the email for future reference

22/06/2023, 11:22 - Jack Killanofilla Smith: IMG-20230622-WA0001.jpg (file attached)
Edit: Image of Wootware saying that damage to the backplate should be fine and that damage to the PCB would be a different story

22/06/2023, 11:24 - Jack Killanofilla Smith: I tagged you in the email. Please let me know if you can see it

22/06/2023, 11:26 - Steven: Hi, good thanks and you?

That seems ok, then we can proceed with the R500 refund

22/06/2023, 11:27 - Jack Killanofilla Smith: Lol no I didn't think you would ask me that

22/06/2023, 11:27 - Jack Killanofilla Smith: I got someone interested in the gpu just didn't want to go through all the effort

22/06/2023, 11:28 - Jack Killanofilla Smith: I mean warranty should give you a full new rma

22/06/2023, 11:28 - Jack Killanofilla Smith: 5500 you got a good deal already

22/06/2023, 11:29 - Jack Killanofilla Smith: I ment R500 discount if we just let bygones be bygones but then I had to do the work anyways to aort out warranty honoring and details

22/06/2023, 11:52 - Steven: That's not what your message said

Edit: He sent me a voice note asking me if I would consider keeping the GPU but that he would give me a discount of R500

22/06/2023, 11:53 - Jack Killanofilla Smith: Here - he tags me with the message here

22/06/2023, 11:55 - Jack Killanofilla Smith: But what I meant is, that if you take the R500 without me trying to justify your warranty. Logically it wouldn't make sense to throw back R500 if you have that warranty still

22/06/2023, 11:56 - Jack Killanofilla Smith: I am trying my ass off to satisfy you common brother

22/06/2023, 12:21 - Steven: I bought the card for R5500 without damage and with warranty. I received a damaged card because of how you packaged it. Now I must just be happy with the situation?

22/06/2023, 12:24 - Jack Killanofilla Smith: Ok lets solve this issue without escalating to the next level. Send the gpu back and I will refund. Done and dusted everyone is still happy chappy like nothing happened

22/06/2023, 12:27 - Steven: That's what I wanted in the first place, then you came with this can I give you R500 back story

22/06/2023, 12:27 - Jack Killanofilla Smith: I am really trying to accommodate you but it's not working I see. Sorry again for not putting it in a hard packed boxed but like I said, I've been doing it before and no problems, we just had bad luck

22/06/2023, 12:27 - Steven: You're the one that's indecisive

22/06/2023, 12:33 - Jack Killanofilla Smith: I just think fair is fair. I didn't sell a damaged gpu, it got damaged with the courier which is also not my responsibility but I admit my packaging was a bit risky although I made sure there is alot of bubble wrap on it. But I went the extra mile to make sure that your warranty is in tact if ever needed so please, please consider it also.

22/06/2023, 13:13 - Steven: Any half decent person would have checked if the warranty is intact. Don't blame the courier, your packaging was sub standard. Covering a GPU worth R5500 in a single layer of bubble wrap isn't enough, which you've already admitted. Then you also made me an offer which I accepted after hearing the card still has warranty. Then you revoke that offer. Why make that offer if you weren't willing to honour it?

But it's fine, send my money. You can also book or pay for the courier as I had to.

Tired of dealing with someone that can't keep their story straight

22/06/2023, 13:18 - Jack Killanofilla Smith: Ag please man, you worse than an old lady

22/06/2023, 13:18 - Jack Killanofilla Smith: You know what just keep the gpu coz you pissing me off now

22/06/2023, 13:19 - Steven: There you change your mind again

22/06/2023, 13:19 - Steven: Shows your character

That's about it, was hoping to get my money back but he seems to have shown his true character here.

Massive facepalm

Hi

I dont have time for big posts and fancy words blablabla

I tried helping the guy and he got greedy AF
my GPU is advertised without warranty and also at a good price for that reason. The courier delivered the gpu like they did the other 100 but unfortunately we had badluck with the gpu backplate that got a little dent on the backplate. You also had the option to collect so I cant take responsibility for the small little dent on the backplate. Wootware also said they will still honor the warranty because it's only the backplate.

The R500 deal was if the buyer sorted out everything on his own without me sorting out the warranty that is still in tact so I think its a little misunderstanding on the buyers side but really I did everything for him to try and sort it out. R5500 on a 3070 with a warranty until 2024 June is a real good deal anyway so i really dont what this guys problem is.

Kind regards to all parties that are now involved 🤣

Please feel free to chat with me on 0823889500 if you want to buy any GPU got TOO MUCH 👌

the guy is unhappy because he thought Im paying him R500 and sorting out the warranty

what was actually ment is that I give him R500 and he just leaves me alone and he must sort out his own warranty

all confusion is set to bed hopefully. maybe just draw him a picture so he can understand

i rarely use this website so i really am trying my best to state my case but also dont have time for below the belt problems.

all i can say is greed is usually what drives these type of problems

simple way to view this is 3070 cost R11000 and he basically got one for half price and warranty in tact like it should have

I got a PIF GPU packaged better than that, and it was broken to begin with.

@KILLANOFILLA If you have 100's of GPU's why do you not have a reseller subscription as per our rules?

You sir, are a first class poes, expect a banned account notification soon .
