Poll: Would you buy this computer? DDR4 up for grabs to one respondent

Would you buy one of these computers for $ 5,000?

I do not personally think this is my cup of tea.

1) I like to see my components in my pc so I will not buy number 1. I also do not prefer the design (but that might just be me). It might be hard to clean such a pc also. Like other gents indicated they prefer to buy and build themselves, something that, that pc maybe will not enable.
2) Although I can see my components clearly I am not a fan of having an "open" case for reasons such as dust, animal/human hairs etc.

Overall no I won't buy these computers just because of the case - the components yes that I will buy if I had the money :)

No. Spending that much on something that will half its value in 2 years is silly :p

I wanted to answer that it both looks tacky and that it is overpriced.

Main reason being that builds like those are targeted at a specific group of enthusiasts (and rich ones at that) which prefer such designs.

For example, I myself prefer minimalist and clean builds as I feel it just provides a productive vibe to my room for work.

So in conclusion: comes down to preference, then probably money (whether can afford or not)

I wont buy the first one. Not a fan of the look.
I will however buy the second one. Always loved the wall mounted look.

Nope to both, they are dust magnets. I still prefer my traditional pc case with perhaps that pc hardware. They are cool showpieces, but I dont think i would practically use one

1st one I would consider, if it is not flimsy.
2nd one is too open. It feels unrounded and like a half job. I prefer the look and feel of the Thermaltake level 10 case with the compartments instead of the randomly placed parts. It is just too busy for my liking.

I'm way off from the target market. I buy good previous gen components, best gives best bang for buck. There is an obvious market for this, but surely the local market for this kind of spending is shrinking?

My opinion, both are ugly. It looks like someone made it in their backyard. There is still something cool about owning a proper neat case, some nice LEDs and some awesome WC stuff.

1: I think this one missed the mark quite a bit. Doubt it will appeal to non-Star Trek fans, and an actual Trekkie would point out it actually looks nothing like the Enterprise except for the basic shape.

2: I like this one purely because I like the look and concept of a wall mounted pc. That being said I would still prefer to build it myself because the freedom you get with that wall mounted style is what will make your pc unique. So if I could buy the components and "case" and then put it together how I want it then I would be interested.

1) No ways, it looks gimmicky.

2) The design is baffling and somewhat amateurish. I'm struggling to pick out the individual components. I thought the fan at the top was the GPU till I realized it is a waterblock covering the CPU, but it also covers the lights on the ram. It looks like there are some bare blue and red cables running out in the middle. There is this enormous ugly black grating fan at the bottom left and I have no idea what it's covering. The radiator is terrible, it looks like it's going to blow air into the room. The more I look at this, the more problems I can see with it.

Hey guys, here are some more systems. These will be a bit more expensive, probably around the $ 7,000 mark. Keep in mind when voting that what we're trying to establish is would you:

1. Buy one of these
2. Rather get a prebuilt from another vendor
3. Never buy a prebuilt regardless of value for money.

Try not to harp on about the exact prices and specs mentioned as neither is final. Rather compare to the styles already out there and tell us if you like these or prefer the others offered by other builders.

Would not buy any of the last batch, not because I would not buy pre built (I am sure if I had enough money I would have better hobbies than mucking around building my own PC), but because they are all fugly :(

I wont buy those ^^^ but they sure look good, works of art imo, Ill only buy these if I had the money, and by that Im talking big money cash, coz its loads of fun building your own system, a system like that in kit form would maybe be more appealing to me, I like the 2nd one from last most, others just seem like art pieces for a expo.

do they plan on actually having NORMAL pre-built systems?

all of these really seem for the EXTREMISTS out there, but ofc if that is their market

the thing with most of these is also the idea that upgrading would be as difficult as can be (from just looking at them) and if not so, definitely would require some modding or changing of aspects

which means the idea of buying a pre-built to avoid something like actually building your own system, definitely isn't going to appeal when you need some modding if/when changing

(all personal opinions of course)

Yep, if i had the money, would go for the second one. Very neat and compact. The only concerns would be... Can it be modified if you wish to upgrade any component? Larger graphics card, cooling system etc. Due to it being compact it may cause a slight heating issue as components are close together, much like a laptop. Also cleaning in between the components when dusty might be a pain. Otherwise i like the thin form factor as it maximizes the space used. Having a wall mount is a huge plus as it is unique and saves space.

The first one in contrast does not seem very practical, very conceptual. It looks like it would take up a lot of space that most people will not have around their table. Looks are subjective, not for everyone. I would also not like to expose my precious components in the open.

Considering they're aiming at the $ 5,000+++ (yes, up to MUCH higher), I'd say no, there is nothing "normal" in that price range.

Boths PCs: No because open air cases attract dust and are an idea like perspex clear cases - conceptually nice but not practical.

Lastly, maintenance or upgrades would be such a pain, as with the custom loop and custom case it becomes a mission for the end user to service. I would just go high end AIO or air for simplicity.

I would take either one but first compair with pricing for the hardware inside only and if okay I would take but would remove them from the housing to build it into a normal housing and dontate the housing to whoever wants.

I prefer normal but great hardware.

I'm with jasong on this. The one above that he quoted is the neatest system out there, but I'm going to maintain my previous posts' information, by using the PC I quoted in my post as an example. It was also an "extreme" machine of sorts, in that really artistic Magmus case, but yet it did not sell because of the reasons I mentioned. I'm worried that buying a pre-built system like any of the ones mentioned would result in a splitting rig very soon, as there will be SOME things I won't like, period.

Also, for $7,000 I would really like to personalize every single aspect of my rig, not buy a pre-determined beast. Yes, I know this contradicts my initial vote, but I think I mentioned it in my previous post as well. Oj0, it might be smart to change it, if you have to use numbers in your end results. My vote should change to "No, it's overpriced for what you get", but only because the other option of "I'm fully of crap and would like to choose everything myself" isn't available. :)

Hell Yes if I was in the market for Extreme High End machines!

If the hardware alone would be worth around 4000-4500 then this will be worth it. Also if you spending $5000 on a dream machine, then why not get something that looks fucking crazy/amazing as well! :D

They are both hideous if you ask me. :|

The star trek one is really tacky. Like really tacky. Couldn't imagine that appealing to anyone but the biggest fanboy.

The 2nd one is very interesting. For the price you're getting a ton of power but I like how thin it is. Could easily be displayed mounted on a wall alongside a 4K monitor. So yes on the 2nd one.
