Only the 60Gig is backward compatible as far as I know... I might be wrong

Only 60GB model is BC (backwards compatible). All PS3's run PS1 games though.

Only the 60gb's are backwards compatible, there were early NTSC (American) 20gb and 80gb systems that were also backwards compatible but this model won't be. Only PS3 and PS1 games
