PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds

Does anyone know what the servers are like for us South African's? I understand it'd be like BF! at the start, but is it playable? Do you notice lag choke etc?

(Meant to quote UrBaN. Did not go according to plan.)

Almost the same issue here.

Picked up a Gigabyte P15F v7, which has an i7-7700HQ, 8GB of DDR4, and a GTX950M 2GB, and dropped my res down to 1366x768, with everything on low/very low.

The game feels like it's running at 40fps - 60fps, but I'm getting this issue where just after landing from the jump, most of the objects and buildings do not render and I sit for 5 minutes waiting for the game to start working. During this time, my Discord drops, and the usual CTRL-ALT-DEL doesn't work, at all.
I thought it might be that my CPU/GPU is overheating, and it's thermal throttling - But my temps stay under 60.
After the 5 minutes, the game works fine - except for some frame drops here and there.

It is worth noting that this happens every other game, I played three games just fine yesterday before getting this issue, and the game after it worked fine again.

The laptop does run Killing Floor 2 on 1920x1080, with most settings on High, 60fps, no issues.

Since PUBG is running on Unreal Engine 4 (KF2 uses a heavily modded UE3 engine), it doesn't make sense that I need to drop my settings down to potato-level.
The devs did talk about releasing patches for optimization, so, currently waiting for that.

If I understand correctly, the game is currently basically rendering at full detail at all ranges. That is one of the big reasons your FPS is so bad when looking at a town from far, or even in the town itself. So the devs will implement a method where at range a lower detail version of the object is rendered. This will make a huge difference when it is implemented.

So I've put in some hours on this, and I'm pretty shocked that they put this out to the public in such a state.

I don't think I've ever seen a game this poorly optimized before. I've played dozens of games at their points of development anywhere from pre-alpha to public beta, and this is the worst-performing game I've come across.

Yes, I know, it's early access. I've played a ton of early access games, and not one was this bad.

I've tried this on 2 PCs, one with an RX480 and a relatively high-end i7, the other with a 1060 and a mid-range i7. On both these PCs I can play BF1 maxed out at 1080p at 75fps.

Battlegrounds? Well, anywhere from 20 fps to 90fps in the span of about 5 seconds, with every setting on very low. It's playable, but only barely.

There are also way too many bugs, even for an early access game.

If you are tempted by this release, I would recommend you wait a few months. It's just not ready in any sense of the word.

It has been a LONG time since I have had this much fun. I have been looking for a new multiplayer shooter for years now and this is the first one that I really like.
Everybody knows it is a risk to buy Early Access games. So much so that I have completely stopped buying them, until this came along. I did my research, watched videos and knew it was badly optimised.
Yet, I am having the time of my life. It is so much fun! The developers have shown their commitment to sort out the issues (they have a daily server side fix and weekly client side schedule).

For R300 odd it is totally worth it, even if the fixes don't come. Knowing the issues, which they have committed to fixing, I would recommend buying it and playing with buddies.

Strange constant 60 with RX470 4GB i7 2xraid0 7200 drives.

Strange, haven't really come across many, if any.

Make sure you update you GPU drivers. I had older drivers and my performance was terrible.

I get 60+ fps on 1440p low and ultra textures with a 970 OC. You shouldn't be getting that bad fps. I've played over 40 hours now lol.

I havent had so much fun in a long time playing these kinda games ... it just sucks playing with EU players that dont speak at all .
Can we get a squad together for a few games .... add me - SlappaDaBass_RSA.

It's frikkin' PRE-ALPHA for the love of all things holy.

- Crap performance?
- Unmet expectations?
- "Unpolished"?

I draw a new car design on some slightly used toilet paper and try to sell that to you.
You buy it and it isn't the car you dreamed it would be.
As my father used to say, "put your wishes in one hand and shit in the other, see which one weighs more."

Hahaha this! Think most people saying that have not played any Alpha and Beta early access games.

Gotten a good few hours in and not sure maybe if you are unlucky but my pc seems to be running it fine few bugs and sound issues. But i think saying its "the worst-performing game I've come across." is a bit farfetched.

Also have you ever played Ark?

This is why I solely endure the extra 100ms to play with Americans in almost all games. At least they're sociable.

Quite interesting to see the amount of SA players getting involved in the forum over at PUBG, with some familiar gamertags from carb ;), But thats very good, the admins over there are boasting about how easy and quick it is for them to roll out new servers so now I want to see how they react, they've now added Oceanic and SAmerica servers, so hopefully they see such a huge response from the forum and 'quickly and easily' roll out a server for us soon ^ ^.

I must admit, they seem to not know how to optimize updates, in the sense of download size, for me its not a problem having fibre and uncapped but for say my friend using LTE capped it can become a problem when downloading half the game for small fixes. So hopefully they get better at updating, but glad to see they progressing and working on it, and glad to see the update schedule they have (if anyone read their update post) so lets hope it keeps evolving.

Also just to add my say, the game is not 100% optimized but its extremely good for an alpha and better then most AAA titles.

They mentioned having a ping lock in the patch notes, so I think they will be forced to put out an ZA server, otherwise we will all be refunding the game. I am hopeful though, the South American and AUS servers are already rolled out.

Who wants to squad up with me? I constantly get mini heart attacks when playing solo cause some French croissant or German bratwurst is camping a house [emoji23]

A ping lock with no indication of the max ping means nothing. Could be set to 300ms to keep the worst pings away. Can't image them having a issue with 150-230ms. Bunch of people playing overwatch without any issues for the guys playing against South africans.

If you have played more than 2 hours you can no longer refund. (Steam)

Steam will allow refunds in this scenario :) "IF" it were to happen.

Take No Man's Sky for e.g At 14Hrs Steam granted me a refund because of False Marketing. If the game has to suddenly become "unavailable" for your region steam will give your money back.

^^ THIS is the only issue i have with this game. H1Z1 i never see people camping houses.

From Hawkinz on their forum,

No region will be left with no where to play, I can guarantee you that :)

No word on South African servers yet.

Heard about this game on Friday. Been watching a few of JackFrags' videos and I love it! Was still skeptical to buy it until I came came across this forum and saw all the love for this game. Think I will be buying it tonight!
This type of hunting your opponents with a death dome keeping you in check would surely get the adrenaline pumping!

Of one dies in the beginning of the game, must you wait until the round is over?
