Got the game now, thanks to Vivian. Will download it tonight and will be able to play by the weekend. So excited...
I noticed this from a video I watched online too. Colours were much richer in the video than in mine, even with everything on Ultra.
Not sure of the reason honestly. Perhaps you had different edits to your files?
Players,
Before we move onto what has changed in this week's two patches, I want to briefly talk about the reports of cheating within our game. Before we moved to early access, our core focus was on adding all the needed systems into the game. Now that this is mostly complete, we are focused on optimizing performance, and increasing security to ensure everyone plays fair.
This is not a simple task, as tackling cheaters is a constant battle, but we are confident that over the coming weeks and months we can implement new measures to make it harder to cheat in the game. This week alone we closed two major holes that allowed current cheats access to the game, and as we move further through Early Access we will continue to track down and further secure the game from those that don't want to play fair.
As with all games, talk of cheating is discouraged and will be removed from our public facing community forums, not to try to hide it from players, but rather to ensure that those that cheat get no exposure to the public, which is something most of them desire! We hope you understand this point, and bear with us as we work to clean up the game.
Finally, in case you missed our announcement on Twitter, we have identified the cause of lag seen on the servers lately and are working on getting it resolved. This issue is not an easy fix, as it involves changes to the core engine code, and will take us some time to complete. We have no ETA on when this will be resolved just yet, so we ask for your patience while we fix the problem.
Now onto what we have updated. These patch notes cover both updates pushed during this week.
This patch will be deployed for both clients and servers Thursday, April 13, 5PM KST/1AM PDT/8AM UTC and is expected to take approx. 1 hour to complete.
Config Changes
Fixed configuration files (ini) so that it cannot be used to hide trees, grass, etc.
Prevented adjusting the FOV by changing the game settings file (ini).
FOV will be adjustable from the settings menu in-game in a future update.
Sound
Fixed an issue with door sounds playing at low volume
Adjusted volume of wind, rain, and footsteps
Improved the sounds for the buggy
When in rainy weather, you will now sporadically hear thunder sounds
Bug Fixes
Added more support for non-standard aspect ratios. The game will now display at the correct FOV on aspect ratios ranging from 4:3 to 21:9. Multi-monitor environments such as Eyefinity are not recommended at this time.
Fixed an issue with the compass direction not displaying correctly
See you in-game,
ayyy
I won
At the moment, the average concurrent player base from the South African region is too low to be able to have specific servers in that region whilst providing a good matchmaking experience.
If that changes in the future, servers will be deployed to the region.
The PUBG team will deploy servers to any region with an average concurrent player count high enough to sustain a good matchmaking experience where players can receive consistently higher player count games.
At the moment the South African region simply doesn't have enough players for this to happen.
No official statement has been made by the PUBG team themselves, but I personally wouldn't expect one until there is news regarding a servers and that is purely dependent on increased player numbers.
Cheers, sorry I know it isn't the answer you're looking for but unfortunately this is the way it is right now.
Im sure this guy works for EA fucking BSFrom Hawkinz on PUBG Forums

Yeah, great flank we got on that final squad (and my M249 was fun in that game...)!Yeah, that HD5850 needs to go..
Shot to Urban, Nirv and Pluvio for getting 1st place in Squads this weekend.
And sorry for derping out and not reviving you, Urban. XD
Got a few wins under the belt now - i love duo play , squad is damned hard always coming up against 3 - 4 others, solo is just for derps xD

We should definitely jam some together bud.
Also prefer duo. I just hate coming in 2nd place...so annoying. Happened twice in a row now.
As far as the local player base size...I reckon it's in the high 200's or 300's.
I've got 22 friends playing it, so hopefully the game grows quite a bit more so we can get those local servers.
SERVERS:
1) Here is a quick reason why there will not be any ZA-based servers soon.
2) Here is the reason Australia & Oceania got servers so quickly.
Since there are so many posts............
3) Less chance for hackers to reverse engineer since they don't have server side code
Fairy certain Amazon already has an AWS center set up in Jhb.
All those reasons just sound like excuses. Look at BF1 and the server situation.
They are also hosted through Amazon and another company (Can't remember the name now). Yet we have local servers because of pressure from the local BF players.
Whoever wrote that comes across as a total know it all and a prat.

There are no AWS servers in South Africa. His logic and reasoning are perfectly sound for the most part. If they indeed use AWS, there is no way for them to easily deploy servers here.
I also believe they have officially stated it's not worth it for them to deploy servers here because the player numbers are way too low to sustain them.
The Battlefield situation was completely different, as EA had a longstanding contract with a server provider that does have data centers in South Africa. They could therefore simply deploy locally using them.
Since there are so many posts regarding ZA servers on this group I've decided to address it so that every tom dick & t-shirt printer out there can understand it.
Short answer : SA has no AWS infrastructure
Source: work for them
We noticed last night that we had way higher ping than normal.
Seems random though. Some games are smooth and everything feels fine, other games are just bad.
On another note, we encountered a cheating team in duo's last night.
We managed to kill the one guy and then his partner turned into the terminator.
Myself and my mate shot him multiple times including 3 headshots with an sks. He wasn't wearing a helm.
He then charged up stairs, one shot me and my mate with a M416 (Both of us wearing lvl3 helm's).
So fucked off about that.
I didn't say his logic and reasoning was wrong. I said he came across as a prat.
As for the BF situation, they had no plans for deploying SA servers, if you followed the whole debacle from the start you'll know this.
It only happened because they were put under severe pressure by the BF community and Youtube celebs that they pulled their fingers out their ass.
I do agree that our BF player base is massive compared to battlegrounds but you can't really blame guys for asking or starting petitions.
The guy "explaining" the situation starts with
So yes, he looks like a prat.
Thanx for clearing that up.
