PC Build Advice - R22k Budget

Here's what id do :

This Upgrade Kit ( CPU, Motherboard, cooler and RAM ) - R10 499
This GPU : R8699
This SSD ( 1TB ) : 799
This PSU : R1499
This Case : R799

Comes to R22 275. You have a very good CPU, AM5 motherboard ,DDR5 RAM ( Future proofing ), a good cooler , plenty SSD storage, a nice case and a very capable GPU.
If you ever suggest Evetech again I will steal your pets.

Why do you hate the man? It's his birthday coming up and you want to spoil it? 'tsek

Seeing as he's buying new, I'm sure he'd like a warranty?

I've bought by them for years with very little issues, they've sorted my problems out better than wootware.

I'm not going to hate on them because people on carb tell me to do so, i've had good experiences with them so my opinion is different than yours. No need to try and bash for me for not having the same opionion as you.

Btw that list has more items from Wootware than Evetech.

I wouldn't recommend springing for a 240mm AIO on that CPU. All the suggestions up to now for CPU/RAM/Mobo/cooler have been much cheaper than this with comparable performance and they'll run perfectly fine on stock coolers.

Also wouldn't be keen for a no-name brand SSD.

And as for the 4060Ti, I wouldn't get a GPU where the reviews are titled things like "do not buy," "the disappointment is real" and "laughably bad."

etc.

That's true but i reckon HEDT vs consumer cpus are a bit different light(But AMD did fuck up royally with their TRX Platform. I can technically use 5 different CPU's in my system
AMD promised a long life for sTRX4 and gave it a single generation. If they can mess up in the server market, where guarantees (not just warranties) and SLAs exist, they can mess up on the desktop market.

/shrug

Yea true, but AMD have done well with their consumer level platforms. We got 5 years and 3 generations out of AM4 and they said we could expect similar from AM5. Time will tell, but it's a safer bet then Intel who historically give us 2 generations and then a new socket. What 3rd gen is Intel on for the same socket? I count 12th and 13th gen...
14th Gen by the looks of things.

I once got drunk and ran across the N1 with my eyes closed and survived, so it's perfectly safe and I'll recommend everyone try it :p

I think a donation is in order for a month ban, what you think @BlueCrayon ?

That's an outdated platform though. It's like going LGA1200. AM4 production is already starting to slow down, as can be seen by the somewhat tiny range of available motherboards. 103 to choose from, of which 84 are unavailable.

One big question, why would you spend more on a motherboard than CPU? :p

That SSD is also not great by any measure - savings on the motherboard could be put into a decent drive:

Yeah as you noted, I havent seen a lot of available options for the Mobo and I was looking for one with Wifi. The one I listed was the cheapest I could find new (I would also consider used but not sure if its worth it to go that route). I would be okay with eventually upgrading some components again down the line when it comes to that but for now just want the best for my budget around a 3080 / 6800xt.

As for CPU, from the bit of research I did, it appeared as pretty highly rated. It also seemed to pair well with a 3080 for decent frames at 1440p but yeah again I am no expert (Im not too concerned with achieving very high frames, i'd be happy at 60-75 fps to be honest).

I do agree that the SSD is a not ideal at all and I am considering going the 2nd hand route here to get something better. Thanks for the help in explaining a few things and yeah just here to ask for advice before I buy anything, so I get the best bang for my few bucks :ROFLMAO:

It's often (but not always) cheaper to get one without Wi-Fi and add a PCIe card/USB dongle for Wi-Fi.

For now, yes, nothing wrong with it - but come two years down the line when a motherboard fails and you get credited because the only replacement stock is something like an Asus Prime A320M-K which isn't suitable... Older AMD motherboard availability is a problem - AM4 is almost gone, AM3 has been gone for years, but on the Intel side I can still offer brand new LGA775 / LGA1156 / LGA1155 motherboards.

It would be far less of a problem with AM5 as it's likely to still be a current platform by the time everything is out of warranty, but for something that is already rapidly being phased out it's something to consider.

Get a new or second hand KC3000 and call it a day - thank me later.

Any time :)

Personally I'd steer clear of secondhand PSUs, SSDs, motherboards if you can help it. There's not too much to be saved there and they've vital components and more difficult to diagnose when they do go faulty, usually.

I would start with gpu and psu

Can go wrong with a RX6800 or RX6800xt they way cheaper than the nvidia counterparts and wont be limited to vram issues. Unless you really really want raytracing. (Which i personally dont see what the hype really is about)
750w psu.
Am4 5600 or 5600x with a decent am4 board and ddr4 ram board cpu and about 16gb ram on the 2nd hand market would set you back round the 6 to 7k mark for a decent setup gpu 7 to 8k the. You good for 1080\1440p gaming with some raytracing gaming on some games

Or if am4 is a problem getting 7 8th gen intels are also perfectly fine. As from 1440p gaming it puts less strain on the cpu and more on the gpu.
