Hi gents

TLDR: scroll down

I (PHalanKS) have started a new business importing and retailing dash cameras and various accessories. The main drive behind this is the the current cameras available on the south african market are generally outdated models, overpriced, big/obtrusive/ugly and in some cases come with pretty rubbish specs or even when the specs are good the quality is still bad.

I am offering a very much once-off SPECIAL here on carb for the flagship product, the Mini 0806. As most of you won't know much about this camera, it's one of the smallest dash cams available, but with the highest specs available that you'll find in any dash cam today. It's small enough to permanently sit on your windscreen and just record away at 2560*1080px 30fps all day. It automatically turns on and off with the card, and does loop recording so it will continue overwriting the files on the memory card(s) until that one day when something actually happens, then you can just take it out and plug into your pc (or phone/tablet with an OTG adapter).

Please feel free to ask any questions on this thread or PM.

Also, if you happen to know someone who knows someone, even if it's your local security company then I'm quite willing to share the love ;)

More info

The important bit:
http://dasho.co.za/
Coupon code: ilovecarb
Coupon gives R300 off the Mini 0806 (normal price R1999) and can be used for multiple cameras.
All I ask in return is that if you do make use of this voucher that you help me out by giving me some feedback, pics of it installed in your car, write a review or even just like/share/follow the facebook/twitter pages (links in my sig). If you happen to capture the next viral video a link back to the website would also be appreciated ;)

If you would prefer to deal on carb rather than use the website you can PM but then you're limited to EFT (to FNB) to pay. I'll still give you the same discount though.

Would anyone be keen on bundles?

I'm thinking of the following bundles:
All-in-one - Mini 0806, 32gb card, CPL
Ultra - Mini 0806, CPL, 2*64GB cards
Extreme - Mini 0806, CPL, 2*128GB cards
Double Ultra - 2* Mini 0806, 2* CPL, 4*64GB cards, Dual USB hardwire kit
Double Extreme - 2* Mini 0806, 2* CPL, 4*128GB cards, Dual USB hardwire kit

how does the camera detect the ignition of the car to determine auto recording stop/start?

It doesn't detect ignition, most cars just only supply power to the cigarette lighter when they are switched on. eg. in my car it starts if I open the door or unlock it with the remote or anything like that and in my wife's car it only starts when the ignition is on what would normally be the first position with a key, but with push button start if you push the button without your foot on the brake it will turn on, along with the radio etc.

The other option is that you can hardwire it into a circuit that isn't switched off when the car is off (basically directly to the battery) and then set it so that the g-sensor picks up movement and it starts recording. You can set the number of minutes (1/3/5 if I recall correctly) to keep recording after any movement is picked up.
(I find this setting a bit annoying sometimes as I like to take my camera out of the car a lot and then it keeps turning on every time you pick it up etc.)

Be sure to check out this video review from Techmoan, a guy in the UK that specialises in reviewing dash cameras and other electronics/gadgets:

Note that the mini 0806 we sell is from the 4th batch so is more reliable than the batch 1 and 2 units (even though I have a batch 1 running in my car for 7months now). Also we supply it with a metal dual usb car charger and a seperate 3m usb to micro usb cable, instead of the bulky "gps" style power cable.

Thank you for your order Roland :)

Bump for last day of special. It's a really good bundle, and unlikely to ever be repeated.

New toy purchased.... now insurance better reduce my premium to justify the purchase >.<

Thank you for your orders roland and Legacy (you will both be getting your orders tomorrow) as well as others that have taken the bundle special or coupon special. :)

Gents, if you're on a budget and perhaps located in Durban/Westville, I have 1 *used* Mini 0806 available. It was only used for around 3 weeks for review purposes. Full 1 year warranty applies from when you get it. It also includes a CPL filter and a 32gb Strontium card with OTG reader. R1700. I can organise courier delivery anywhere in SA however it would be about R80 around durban or R110 anywhere else (except the bundus where it would be a bit more). Normal cost on this bundle would be R2400 so save R700, and you still have full warranty.

Hi Rory I might be interested in the used Mini 0806. Just busy looking at a few reviews online before I make a decision.

Hi Rory

Just stumbled across this thread now searching for dash cams. Don't know how I missed it for so long.

Are you still running any specials?
