Howsit peeps, so I'm finally building a pc again, been out of pc gaming for a long long time, gone start of a bit slow, so far iv got

I5 2400 CPU
1000w Thermaltake psu
2 x 4gb corsair xms 3
1 x 120gb Ocz agility sad
1x 2tb seagate
Cooler master 431 chassis
N I got a p67 Msi board!

I'm not sure what VGA card to go with, I had initially bought a sapphire 7770 very impulsively but apparently a crap card!

I would like to connect the rig up time to time to my 3d tv else just on a 23" at full 1920 x 1080

I've always been a fan of nVidia but I'm confused at what to go with....

Some ideas peeps...

ATIBoy is selling that card for *** cheap, you would be stupid not to buy that :) He just bought it the other day!!!

New, the 7850 price / performance wins the 570 and considering the 7850 can overclock to 7870 performance without even touching 3rd party software. Thats good. On Overclockers UK there calling this the SB of GPU's - How to overclock a 7850 past 1050MHz? - Overclockers UK Forums Oh oh and all using 1x6pin for power!!! :p

I overclocked mine to 1290 (that's the magic 50% overclock target) today with no problems what so ever. And lots of people are doing it. Its that simple. On reference coolers! And at those OC's im getting scores that belong to 7950's (which is above a 580).

I'm 90% converted to AMD, only problem is I still miss my green icon on the system tray :mad: and because of that I will probably be swapping this for the 6 series Nvidia equivalent as soon as it comes out :)

Also something of note -

Stock speeds
Stock 7870 = 1000/4800
Stock 7850 = 860/4800
difference = ~20%

before GPU Tweak allowed unlocking average overclocks

OC 7870 = ~1250/5600
OC 7850 = ~1050/5600
difference = ~25%

with GPU Tweak unlocked overclocks

OC 7870 = ~1250/5600
OC 7850 = ~1250/5600
difference = 6-8%

It is not that 7870 no longer overclocks better, it is more that 7850 now overclock just as well. The 7870 is not worth 40% more money for just 6-8% performance.
