My PC has this issue were it decides to smack me with Code 8(meaning not enough power to CPU), mainly happens when I game and rarely when I work

I would like some serious help because I only start work again in like 2 weeks and dong have the financial for this kak. It started happening like maybe like 4 or 3 months ago. Then I got a new PSU and reinstalled It day later same thing happened so now I'm confused. I had out my CPU in my dad's PC and it worked fine and tried his and gave me Code 8 instantly. Bios should be up to date and windows is also up to date and I use windows 11

Specs
Cpu- Ryzen 7 2800x
Gpu- RTX 3070
MOBO-Asus ROG crosshair VII
Ram- Corsair Vengeance 3600mhz(only run on 3000 because CPU can't go above)
PSU- 800Wattb

Check your Caps around the VRM's and chokes also check your Cpu Power connectors and connect the 8 pin and the 4pin

and if your using Cable extensions try without the extensions

Also if you are overclocking reset bios to default and see what happens

I don't overclocked my stuff also I'm relatively new so idk what VRMS and Chokes are I just have a basic understand of computers

Unfortunately, there's never an easy answer to these scenarios. Best option would be to diagnose everything individually out of the case.

Your CPU and PSU are already ruled out as you've mentioned above, now try swapping the GPU and ram now to see if the issue still prevails. If it does, then unfortunately the motherboard might be damaged.

Which PSU exactly? My guess is that your RTX has peak power draws while you game and you PSU is not able to provide sufficient power to your system
It's iether a raidmax or a vortex but one of them have that 80 plus gold or something like that I'm honestly not so sure tbh I'll have to check tomorrow

Yeah I was kinda expecting the MOBO Bec the GPU is still under Nvidia warrenty and ram isn't even 6 month old yet but my MOBO is literally a hand me down from my pops like 8 or 9 yrs ago when I first built my PC

Sorry - no disrespect - but not what I would consider 'quality' PSUs. Can you borrow another PSU from someone for testing?

I have a spare Corsair 1.3k watt and plugged it in and same shit again with code 8 so yah :/

Ok - then we can rule that out

Just on a side note: If you have a bigger Corsair lying around, why use the Raidmax?

As per @NYRAD, have you confirmed that all required power cables are connected to the board?

And even if you have not played around yet with overclocking, have you reset your bios to defaults? There might still be some 'old' settings in there

Other than that, the next step will probably be to test your system with a different GPU and see if you still run into the same problems

Because the Corsair is old and idk actually we generally thought both PSU were f'd because we first initially thought it the the PSU's and both the PSU's I had previously had were rusting on the insides incl the Corsair, and also I'm pretty sure I pit the cables in properly because I clean my PC one every 2 weeks but I'm triple check tomorrow

Just checking. When you say Code 8, where is that code showing? Is it a Windows error, or on the little LED display on the motherboard?

When you say "BIOS should be up to date," when last did you manually update the BIOS? You have to do it manually, it doesn't do it along with Windows update.

Also a couple of guys now have asked if you have reset your BIOS - this is an important question, worth answering.

Is there anything that changed in your PC (hardware or software) 3 months ago when the issue started?

There's no such thing as a Ryzen 2800X. Do you mean 2700X?

What model is your dad's CPU that you tried in the board?

Have you also tried swapping out the RAM or the graphics card?

Sorry ye ment 2700x, sorry was ment to reply to it today my phone did died last night nah I havn't reset my bios tbh I'm not even damn sure hot to but I'll YT it later just bit busy. The only new thing j have is my RAM but I'm not sure how old it is . But it's still brand spanking new all I can remember that it's not 6 month old yet , I'll find the invoice for it little later when I'm home. My dads CPU was the Ryzen 5 5600G, I can't swap my ram with anyone because mine my dad's are the same and I'm not clued up on my sister's board if she can't have 3600mhz but I'm sure it can because she has the Samsung 980 NVMe and the Ryzen 5 2600x in it so yah I'll have to see, GPU I havn't and I haven't swapped it out yet , I'll have to swap with my dad or sisters going to have to swing past them

Great, and then just these two:

Another thing I wanted to say is that it normally hits me with Code 8 on the LED when I've done like long hours like lunch to like late evening and it never used to do that
Most likely a mobo issue. I have come across of a board with one of my friends, Replaced the board and the issue was gone.

He had a Ryzen 5 2nd gen can't recall which one.

Yeah my money is on mobo too. It's worth trying to reset/update BIOS and check if RAM is dodgy too though, both are easier and cheaper fixes.

Is the RAM that you are using on the motherboard's AVL list?

I've had weird issues with RAM in the past and it turned out to be incompatible with the particular motherboard.

I got home a day ago and when i was in my bios before i reset it i checked the bios version is 4703 and the latest ASUS ROG CROSSHAIR VII HERO bios update 5302 so I'm going to watch vid and learn how to update it

my ram is compatible with my MOBO but i just can't run 3600mhz because of my CPU is only second gen so the max i can run is 3200

Update I did update my bios but it still gives me code 8 so idk what to do I loaded optimal settings and still same thing so idk what to do only thing I havn't done is reset my CMOS

As everyone has sort of already mentioned, do a BIOS reset, look up "CMOS battery reset" and just try it out. Might be able to fix your problem.
Before you start going around buying new stuff. :p
You mean just taking our the CMOS and putting it back in?

Resetted the CMOS still gives CODE 8 so swapping CPU on Friday

So update on Thread swapped CPU's still code 8 and it's def MOBO and another interesting when I swapped with my Pops CPU he has my Ryzen 7 2700X and I got his Ryzen 5 5600G he's PC have been getting the Blue Screen of Death which is very surprising because it's only been happening since we have swapped CPU so yah
