Hi
Quick question: in a multibay USB3 enclosure, are the drives independently addressable?
I would like to run 3 drives with ZFS from my raspberry pi 4.
any suggestions on which enclosure is worth it? Obviously it would require external power.

thanks

It depends, look out if the one you find does JBOD. Secondly check with the OS you are using supports that driver/chip on that enclosure, so that you don't need to compile the OS again.

Don't think ZFS on a Pi is a good idea, cause of IO throughput, lack of ECC, lack of RAM capacity etc. What is your intended setup? I like the idea, I just think it won't work well unfortunately.

Ok cool. Will check for JBOD

I want a storage solution like freenas, used to run ZFS on a HP microserver over 3 3TB drives. That solution became too slow and power hungry. I need a bit of space plus the redundancy of losing a drive without losing data. The pi currently great running pihole + plex, but the timemachine on the network does not have the redundancy I want for family photos etc.
And the pi4 is great!!
