How many you have remaining?

How does this work exactly, the buyer pays the full value of the contract upfront and then it stays in your name till the contract expires?
Going by the lump sum amounts the buyer is paying around R400/pm, do they come with handsets, the similar black friday/cyber monday 50gb deal with no handset was R149/pm?

I was curious about keeping it on your name and not just transferring out.

I did the same.
Sold 2 x sims at lump sum.
Called carb trust.
Im sure you can transfer it maybe with a huge deal of effort eventually if you require so.
And yes, you may ask what you like really. Cause MTN not running it anytime soon again. 50GB for under R600 a month on MTN still a bargain

Easy enough to transfer a contract, you just apply for a contract stating it's for a transfer of ownership and you get credit vetted for the existing monthly premuim.

I personally wouldn't pay a lump sum for a contract to remain in someone else's name, what a pita both ways, every time you need help is the op going to drop everything and sit on the phone with MTN sorting out billing issues/connectivity problems etc the call center/stores get really sticky these days if you aren't the actual account holder, you may as well not even bother trying if you are a 3rd party. Dealing with the network is hard enough on it's own, I would hate to have to do it via another person.

Also who knows if the op doesn't become unreachable 12 months down the line(not saying he will because I don't know him from a bar of soap but these things happen) or land himself in hospital and all the contract debits bounce etc.

Buyers just need to be aware of the pitfalls of not having a contract in their name.
