So I bought this GPU used like 2 years ago. It has been working fine all this time, but recently it has started black screening while playing games and under load.

As soon as I start furmark, it black screens and fans ramp up. I thought maybe the paste dried up, I changed that and everything but it still does it. Does anyone know what could be wrong with it? If I restart after the black screen, it still works in normal operation, but not with a graphical load.

I will say what I recently started learning video editing and rendering/encoding videos with it, could that have added to its failure?

Its stable clock speed may have deteriorated. Try using some sort of overclocking software to reduce the clock speed under load. Additionally lowering or upping the voltage or power target might help. GL

Also try loading the VRAM up at varying values ie 2gig then 4gig and so on.

If you hit 6 gigs and then it BSOD, it’s a memory module and unless you know how to replace one of those, it’s game over for the card.

Sitting in the exact same position as you with my RX6800XT. 3 Months ago I started lowering the Clock speeds by 300, a month later that wasn't enough and had to go down about 500. The last 2 weeks Not even 1300 Mhz down helps. So its met its end.

The frustrating thing is it doesn't overheat, Hotspot on the -1300 clock sits at like 65 degrees.

Will se if GPUWorx might be able to do something.

Is you heatpipes getting hot?

Could just temp controller failing, had it with 580 gigabyte even when not underload it would kick in safety system with ramping up fans even know its at 40c lol
