Hi all

Need some helpful ideas on what steps I can take to get internet working on this board.

I bought a used ASUS B450 TUF Gaming Plus II motherboard on Carb recently. It was mentioned that LAN drivers are not working on the board.

So I boot it up and I see in settings/network adapters there is nothing there, I check device manager there is no network adapter detected there either (Just the usual WAN stuff).

I download the drivers from the motherboard website on another PC and try to install on this one, it installs and at the end gives a warning that no compatible adapter found or something along those lines but driver gets installed anyway. Still not working, not seen in device manager, not seen in setting/network adapters.

I install my own USB wifi which works on all my other PCs. It does not get detected and still no network adapters in settings.

I install another PCIe Ethernet card, still not detected neither in settings/network adapters nor in device manager.

What other steps can I take to get internet working on this motherboard?

It seems something is blocking all network adapters from being detected or working.

Does is support bios flash back? Is it on the latest bios?
Also that's a weird as heck problem.

Boot with a Live Linux boot disk to rule out a Windows issue.

Here's a few other steps you can try to rule out a software issue

I also agree with SpaceWalker, try a live linux distro (any will do but try Ubuntu 22LTS or Ubuntu 23 or a new distro to make sure it has the NIC and PCIe drivers working in the kernel)

If indeed it does work on a linux distro it most likely is a windows issue. You will most likely need to do a fresh install with the latest Win 10 / Win 11 ISO as a base (You can also use rufus to make a "Windows-to-Go bootable drive)

Yes, it does have BIOS flashback and it is on latest BIOS. Will see if it is possible to revert to an older BIOS version.

The LAN is turned on in the BIOS?
Yes, it is turned on, but that should have no effect on other external network adapters like a USB Wifi adapter.

Thanks for all the responses, I will try booting with Linux and maybe install a fresh copy of windows on it later today.
