Hi all,

So I've been loving my PS4 Pro for the last 8 months, playing on a 12 year old Sony Bravia 32" (Full HD).
Over the last couple of weekends, I moved the Pro to the lounge, with 47" LG 3D Full HD TV, with obviously much better clarity and picture quality.

Now I am spoiled with the 47", but can't play there permanently (TV too far, occupying the lounge, etc)
I've been considering replacing the 32" upstairs with something newer, but not sure if I should go TV or monitor.

Any advice, oh and of course strict budget ... LOL, as in this is just a feeler :)

Maybe something like this as replacement?
Dell S2718H 27-inch Infinityedge Monitor

A couple of people happily used one of the Samsungs, it think it's KU7000 or something like that, as a monitor on their systems.

If you are certain that the screen will never be needed for a TV and the lower amounts of inputs on a monitor will be fine...

I would say go for where you get more bang for your buck.

IF you find a monitor that has a better spec/picture than a TV in a similar price range then go for it.

This may be rare though as TV`s are mass produced when compared to higher end monitors.

I think your budget would also be a big indicator here.

PS : PS4 Pro is 4k, try to get something to harness the best part of that machine.

Not really but my son does have that tv...I will be very straight and say though that a console game doesn't "feel lekker" on a monitor to me even if its the same game...

Hmmm. Oh well I do remember you speaking about those Samsung's a few times when the topic came up.

I fully agree, bang for buck is high on the list.
Some people reckon monitors are better to play on, hence I need some advice here, as I have no personal reference for using a monitor on the PS4
Thanks for the input!

Update time: So I hooked up a 2 year old Samsung 24" monitor to the PS4 Pro ... my word, it is a world of difference. Even with the BIG size difference, the monitor is way better IMHO.

No to find a decently priced 27" :)

Are you into mainly single player games or multiplayer? If it's multiplayer I would always recommend a monitor. For single player games try and get the best/biggest TV in your price range. I game on a Panasonic 65" OLED and the games look stunning. Add a decent amp and speaker system and your in entertainment heaven

Mostly Multiplayer

You can obviously use a gaming monitor for any console, as long as you have HDMi has an input.

The advantages are also the following:
  • Faster pixel response
  • Better colour accuracy
  • Better refresh rate frequency

If you're happy gaming on 27 inches, instead of 40", it's probably going to be great.
I'd go for it in a small room whereby you have limited space - something that I would strongly consider, living in the UK.
