I'm busy with a new build and need RAM advice.

12700K
GIGABYTE Z690I AORUS Ultra DDR4 ITX
EVGA RTX 3080 TI XC3 Ultra
G-Skill 2x16GB 4400 CL17
Coolermaster V850 Gold SFX
Sabrent Rocket 4 Plus 1TB

How much does the speed/latency matter to 12th Gen?

Also looking for advice on an ITX case that takes SFX PSU and 240mm radiator.

I wanted the Phanteks Evolve Shift XT but it appears to not be released yet - Phanteks Innovative Computer Hardware Design

ADATA XPG LANCER RGB DDR5 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR5 DRAM 6000MHz CL40 1.25V

Is the one you want

It's a toss up, some applications prefer bandwidth, others latency, ddr5 seems to have the edge though. Personally I would grab the Asrock taichi and the adata ddr5 5200 from wootware.

Uhm how much can you get the 4400C17's for? Also you shouldn't buy them unless you're going to manually tune them. You won't be able to run 4400 in Gear 1. Rather stick to a 3600C14 kit and tune it up to 4000Mbps with maybe 14-15-15 yourself. 12700Ks don't have the best IMCs though, so you might get stuck at 3800C14 like @Era

Around R5000 for the kit. I have a thing for Samsung BDie though

R5000 is fine for the 4400C17's. It'll have to be a manual tune though. If you want to go D5, the Lancer RGB kit is also B-die. It's just S16B and not S8B. Just to note, Gigabyte Z690 D4 boards are disgustingly bad.

Thanks, I wouldn't touch an Asrock board again in my life. Had 2 very bad experiences with the brand and after sales support.

I can cancel my order for the DDR4 Z690 and change it to the DDR5 version although I have read that there is very little noticeable difference at the moment. Maybe it is time to go DDR5

Yeah man good luck getting that bdie to 4400 gear one. Buy a cheaper kit and OC it yourself.

Z690 Taichi is Wootware so chances are you'd still get an RMA even if the board died while LN2 OCing XD

Tell me what KFC you want to meet behind and I'll fight you.

Let me stock up on some will smith's first. Then I can dish em out.

Also, @Juggy never asked for VALUE for money advice, just RAM advice in general. Based on our previous conversations though, cost wasn't as important as speed was.

Considering those, the kit I linked still appears to be the "best of both worlds" with DDR5.

In my opinion DDR5 isn't worth it from a cost perspective at all but that at least didn't look like what he was asking. :p

The Lancer's are the same price as the 4400C17's

I think i'll give DDR5 a skip this time around. I am only building a gaming rig for the lounge (VR and wotnot)

Bring all the Willies you want man, that limp wristed bitch slap doesn't scare me. JK.

Yip value proposition for DDR5 is still not quite where you'd want to see it but it's getting there much sooner than I'd have thought and the performance differences in gaming/general everyday life isn't significant enough to worry about.

@Juggy your best bet even if price isn't an consideration and you're decided on DDR4 then the actual bin of Bdie you get won't matter too much more than getting a decent bin and the 4400cl17 is definitely a good bin but you are not going to get everything out of the kit that you are able to as the 4400 will default into 2T and like @affxct mentioned there is a possibility that you'll be stuck at below 4000 for 1T even if you mess with the drive strengths.

Geez, just spoke to Amazon to cancel the DDR4 board (I may as well take the leap) and they said that I have been a Prime customer for a long time so I can keep the board and they will fully refund me so I can order the DDR5 version.

Seems the DDR5 RAM is almost paying for itself once I flog the DDR4 board

Lucky bitch.

Now order the DDR5 RAM and do a side by side comparison for us.

The man was too stunned to speak.

I just got these from Dash, will see if they train on my mobo to the 4300 profile

*Gear 2/Gear 1, 2T vs 1T is kinda a nothing burger. You're almost inevitably gonna be in 2T with Gear 1.
