Right, so,
I bought these two a few weeks ago to try (for the first time in my life) if MAC OS is going to get under my skin and make me a cult follower.
It didn't. I have been professionally tied into Windows environment for too long. So, back to Windows I go and Macs are back for sale.
Both machines work 100% as intended, and they are much, much faster than any Windows PC of the same configuration thanks to efficiency of the most mature amount the open source Unix/BSD based operating systems. I had a whole bunch of my typical "entertainment" applications running at the same time on the iMac - no noticeable performance difference between just reading email or running everything you have at the same time. Still, not for me and since I professionally depend on Windows environment, I'll rather let them go than collect dust as a serious overkill for entertainment needs.
Item 1:
iMac model "21.5-inch Mid 2010" Intel Core i3 3.06GHz with most recent "High Sierra" OS upgrades installed
4Gb DDR3 1333 RAM easily expandable to 8 or 12Gb, or 16Gb if you replace 2 existing memory modules. Some sites claim that even 32Gb will work in this machine.
ATI Radeon 256Mb graphics
500Gb conventional hard drive.
Original Apple full size keyboard and Magic Mouse are included.
Condition is spotless with only one barely visible scuff on the back.
Everything is made of anodised aluminium so pretty much indestructible.
Age: unknown
Price: R3500
Payment Method Accepted: pre-cleared EFT, or cash & carry
Warranty: none
Packaging: none
Condition: far better than what I have seen as typical for the age
Location: Linden Ext, Randburg
Reason: no use for it
Shipping: no
Collection: Linden Ext, Randburg, ideally on the weekend
Item 2:
MacBook Pro "13 inch late 2011" Intel Core i5 2.4GHz
4Gb DDR3 1333 RAM Both memory slots are filled so memory can be expanded (16Gb?) by replacing the existing modules.
Intel HD Graphics 3000 384Mb
500Gb conventional hard drive
Battery charges to 100% and lasts admirably long. I had it powered and used on and off between stand-bys doing software installation and casual use - browsing, media playback, etc. for most of the day without dropping under 35%. I estimate that full time on-stop use would be at least 2.5hrs. Probably more, but lets rather err on the side of caution.
Original Apple charger is included.
Condition is excellent with some very minor scuffing on the back. Backlit keyboard, touchpad and screen are like new.
Age: unknown
Price: R4000
Payment Method Accepted: pre-cleared EFT, or cash & carry
Warranty: none
Packaging: none
Condition: far better than what I have seen as typical for the age
Location: Linden Ext, Randburg
Reason: no use for it
Shipping: yes, your cost and risk. Please ask your short-term insurer to provide "cover for your property in transit".
Collection: Linden Ext, Randburg, ideally on the weekend
Buy both for R7000 and you're Mac-ed all the way!
