How to feed the CUD?

Best way to defeat CUD: have a child

no seriously, find a way to spend your money elsewhere. Im sure you can find ways to improve your house/accomodation or a new hobby you were thinking of getting into. Or you could just get of carbs for a while. Go outside and have a coffee, read a book or take the dogs for a walk.

I'd rather have CUD

@iamgigglz - don't you want to do me a favour bro?

Run a couple game benchmarks at 32GB, then run them again at 16GB and see what difference you get?

Will do. I've been a little curious anyway.

BUT

1. Any game I have that would feel the extra ram is going to be heavily GPU-bound anyway.
2. I'm ITX, so removing half my ram = switching to single channel.

Disclaimer: The only reason I have 32GB ram is because it's my work machine too and I run a Windows 11 VM...with a Windows XP VM inside it, and I need all three environments to be snappy.
For gaming I absolutely believe we're still at the "16GB is plenty" stage.

I seem to be suffering from a fairly serious bout of CUD at the moment.

Problem is, I can't seem to find a cure. Do I just wait it out and hope it passes? Do I need to apply a remedy? I don't know.

Current specs are in my sig. Not sure what region the inflammation is in, possibly the RAM? Is it a CPU infection? I just can't tell.

Someone qualified please help suggest a worthwhile cure.
I'm guessing a CPU and a Ram infection, it's a nothing to worry about as they're close together the infection often occurs in both together.

Too soon?

(Previous machine from last year just after installing 64GB)

Thanks man.

Reason I asked @iamgigglz is we have similar setups.

perhaps I should just deal with the infection for a while and not treat it.
Ah ok.
Yea, in a meeting so can't run benchmarks on my spare potato right now which matches your spec closer (except for gpu and nvme)

According to Intel, AMD is dead.

And (apparently) @rinners
Yea... Intel fighting back with a knee-jerk reaction.
Just waiting for 6000 Ryzen to stomp them back down to earth as they are using 'pre-release performance' to compare to actual release performance of AMD...
Reminds me of the 6900XT pre-release performance numbers kicking the 3090's ass...
But after release it only keeps up with the 3080. (performance only, ignore pricing for this).

Oh And

"The Amazon listings for the Core i9-12900K seem to agree that the 16-core processor could cost over $800, whereas the Core i7-12700K and Core i5-12600K may have price tags above $600 and $300, respectively. In fact, Amazon France and Amazon Netherlands seemingly agree that the Core i7-12700K could sell for $615 and the Core i5-12600K for $310."

Don't you dare use potato in a sentence when referring to my magnificent beast of a PC you redneck troutnaaier.

Bet not even one complaint about the 6 core costing $300 where everyone and their pet was bitching about the 5600x price
