Hisense tv issues

Agreed.

I'd be willing to bet Plex is transcoding because the TV can't direct play the HD audio.
@ArchAngel2280 mentioned file working off a flash drive.
thank u

Can you not try your friend’s android box on your system? Kodi also supports other network protocols and caching which would handle the bursts in increased bit rate.

Can you perform a network speed test on your TV or try streaming on another device?

Also the Xiaomi Mi Box supports gigabit ethernet through an USB adapter.

90% of the time Plex transcodes it's audio or subtitles.

my 2 cents, I hate how my Hisense has a netflix banner ad on the home screen (tried everything possible to remove it) and that I cant load custom backgrounds and hide those banners so annoying. Makes me wanna connect a HTPC to it even if its a Smart TV just for a clean look on the home page 😅

Pi hole?

OP try changing the audio option. Like I mentioned before I have similar issues streaming from plex to my 4k tv sans Atmos capability. The video stream is not transcoded, the audio stream is which causes massive stuttering. If I select to use 5.1 audio there's no stuttering.

If I play the same content on my other 4k TV with Atmos capability, no stuttering.

Try it, takes a minute. If it doesn't solve your issue, you've only lost a minute

I have found the plex client is normally to blame for transcoding. (not all the clients support all the codecs).
I used my LG's webos for a bit but it was slow and transcoded many times.
I then switched to a Mi Box 3 which works 10 times better although it doesn't support the new fancy formats like atmos or dolby vision or 4k which is why I'm waiting for my Google Tv to arrive.

Not sure about you direct play issue though, just my 2cent on plex.

Mi Box S is 4K and is on special for R999 at hifi corp.

Going to pick one up this weekend.
