Hi guys

Need some help on my 65q8600

First, i want to stream bluray 4k hdr from my pc to the tv without transcoding. the MKV file plays but lags like hell.
btw, file size is 85gb in 2hr. upgraded router to ac1200 5ghz. seems better but still lagging. not gonna upgrade the router again, cause not sure it that is the problem.
if i put the file on a 128gb flash drive, it plays fine on the tv

did run a lan cable. plays worse than the wifi. remember the tv is only 100 base
pc is gigabit and router is gigabit

now im thinking of going android tv box, but cant find one with a gigabit port. Any recommendations on something that will work with netflix, dstv, prime video and showmax?

next issue is that i want to play games from my pc to the tv
i have a 18gbps hdmi cable. all works well until i switch of the pc
switch back on and it doesn't boot. when i remove the hdmi and restart my pc, it boots fine
tested the hdmi on my monitor and that works fine. i disabled the hdmi cec stuff and changed the hdmi port from 1 to 2. same issue.

pc is ryzen 1800x
msi x370 carbon
sapphire rx580

anybody got any advice for me?

I don't think your router itself is the issue. How far is your router from the TV? Have you tried 2.4 as well? Have you tried cable.

When you say "doesn't even boot" do you mean it's completely dead (like Zuma's brain) or do you mean it boots but no picture shows? Also, how many displays are connected to the PC when you boot, just the TV or the TV and the monitor?

yes, tried 2.4. much worse. tried cable. same as 2.4. 5ghz is fastest. if i look at the network usage on my pc, as soon as it hits 230Mbps it starts lagging

the tv and the router is about 1m apart

the pc comes on, fans and lights, but no usb and does not post. if i press the power button it switches of instantly, not like it is in the os

i had 1 dvi and 1 hdmi connected
removed the dvi and changed the hdmi port on the gpu

last thing i did not try was the display port to hdmi convertor. still looking for one

20mb adsl

the issue is not streaming from the internet
its an mkv file directly from my pc. i thought its the hdd that cant keep up so i copied it to my nvme drive. same issue

This type of issue can sometimes be related to firmware. Have you checked to confirm you are on the latest firmware?

i am on the latest firmware on the tv

i seem to have solved the hdmi issue. not sure y, but i reflashed the vga bios with the same one i had on and now it seems to boot with the hdmi pluged in. very strange.

now only the streaming issue

the internal software of the tv. smp or dlna or some other weird name.

the tv supports plex, but plex does not support 4k hdr

Is your Pc h265 Compatible ? It can be the Tv's got that encoder built in and that is why it is playing it fine and not on the pc

When i got my 4K tv the only thing that played all my Bluray files with HDR was Kodi Madvr , started with a Gt1030 that was too slow Upgraded to a 1050Ti which only Managed if some settings were turned on , with a Gpu usage of 95%
Was too much of a Hassle , Got a Minix Neo U9 worked Perfectly , Everything, Atmos DtS-live and Hdr no Stutters
Now i have a Nvidia Shield Pro 2019 which also have no troubles

My files is on a server , and through network CABLE it works 100%
Also files that is massive like yours , so network cannot be an issue

The Minix Neo U9 does not support all your requirements for streaming but try the Shield , Really is the best

If I play 1080p it works fine. How is it possible to play through cable. I ran a cable directly from pc to TV and it stutters like mad on 4k hdr. Much better on the 5ghz wifi. The TV definitely has a 100 base port.

When I use plex, it works fine, but it transcodes the file, so there is a quality difference.

I have played 70mbps 4k hdr via plex through a 100mbps wifi connection to it with zero issues. router is right next to the tv and my pc is connected to the router via powerline. difference between our setups comes to tvs then, i have a samsung q80r but i see no reason why the hisense should be an issue.

Have similar issues playing my 4K HDR H265 Atmos content when not playing on a Dolby Atmos system. Try changing your Audio Options on the stream to 5.1 or even Stereo if available. Are you using Plex? If playing 4K content on a 4K TV there is no need for transcoding. Audio transcoding might be happening causing the stuttering.

I cannot understand your router part and wifi ???
You say you play the file directly from your pc connected to the Tv ,so where does the router come in?? and speed of Lan?
Or is that another issue??

2 things.
1. HDR is independent of resolution, it’s basically metadata.
2. MKV is just a container.
So post the codec and metadata info from something like VLC for your file.

Also the info for:
Graphics card model, and version of drivers used
Plex server version
Plex client version

ok, seems to be some confusion here.

the file I'm trying to play is an mkv. its a bluray disk that i converted with makemkv

i had a normal 2.4ghz telkom router/modem. when i play the file on the tv from the pc, it lags
on the hisense tv, when u go to inputs, i pick up my pc there.
u have to turn media sharing on and add the file to library for it to show
then i tried a cable from the pc to tv directly, lags, but a bit less

so i read that u have to use 5ghz wifi, cause its faster than the 100 network
got a dlink ac1200, still lags on the 5ghz but better
when i check the network usage on my pc, it goes to 230Mbps
as soon as its around there, it starts lagging

same pc as in my sig with all latest drivers

Okay you‘re bottle necking on the network again.
From the docs it seems MakeMKV uses H.264, for comparison Netflix recommends 25Mbps for 4K + HDR. They encode with HEVC (H.265).

Your router is 1200Mbps across both bands, so 5Ghz is 867Mbps.
Assuming your TV only has one antenna, I can’t find any detailed specs. That means the connection is 433Mbps which is split in half for upload and download.

Which puts you close to your 230Mbps stuttering.

Sorry i Still dont understand , it is a file on your pc Even if you have no Internet it will play ???
Start by sorting that out first without trying to stream from the net
Or please clarify ??

yes, internet has got nothing to do with it. the file is on my pc.

that's the thing, the format is hvec. not compressed. full quality bluray. not this 4k netflix crap

i had a friend play the file from his pc to his android media box on kodi
the media box is 100 base and the file plays fine on his tv, but not sure if kodi is transcoding it

i can upload the file specs if someone can tell me how to attach a screenshot

You say it works fine with Plex but it transcodes so you lose HDR, I suggest you play the file again and then check the Plex webUI to see the transcode reason.

Did you try another player ? and is your hardware acceleration on in Vlc ? Like XBMC or MPC-hc
Did you also Leave your hdmi setting on your tv on 2 Enhanced i think ?
Here is also a link that you can go through
