Hit a pothole on the car and got a bubble on the sidewall so I'm looking for new rubber.
Bubble is on the front, rear is getting low on tread so thought I may as well do all four at the same time.

here's the kicker, no one so far can find stock for me - claim it's a very odd size - 235/50/17 on a 2016 Ford Fusion

I am a bit of a Michelin fanboy, so would prefer that route, but don't mind Dunlop/continental/Pirelli - Not specifically looking for sport tyres, but want a good set.
So far I've been trying to find a set of Pilot sport 2/4, Michelin Primacy 4/4+, Dunlop FM800, Dunlop Maxx060+ and Continental Eagle F1 but no one has stock.

Some places literally just say "Sorry we can't help" so I'm getting a bit worried.
Already tried Minty's, ErrolsTyres, TyreMart, TWT, SupaQuik, HiQ, Tyres&More, LombardTyres

Anyone with any connections perhaps that might be able to help ? Don't really want to drive it with a bubble.

Look for another 17inch Tyre that has a rolling circumference as close as possible to your current Tyre. There's calculators on the web.

Try Dunlop Rosettenville and Mintys The Glen or best Best Drive

Dunlop Fm800 is not bad ibe gotten new ones for my Audi

Would you not consider 225's?
Might be more readily available.

Phoned my supplier, he's never sold a tyre in that size in the 25 years he's been selling tyres.

I did Google the car and they do come in that size, so it's an odd one. What brand and model is currently on the car?

His suggestion was to go for a more common size, which typically makes it cheaper. So for you that would be 235/55/R17.

But send me your current tyre brand and model.

Its a last resort as the car has quite the weight, so I don't really want to lose contact patch.

Well that's encouraging :D

I'm not insane, I've walked to the garage so many times to confirm for shops that I started sending them photos of the tyre on the car stating the size.

I really want to do 55 (I'm fine having a slightly off speed, but would like to know its harder to lose a rim)
I am however not sure it would fit in the wheel arch so didn't commit yet.

Fronts are Continental Eagle F1, rear are Michelin Pilot Sport (can't remember which one exactly) - All four the same size - These are the ones that were on the car when I bought it.

Its an option, would prefer not to until I am 100% sure there is no other way.
Would prefer to not lose contact patch.

I've found that the difference between 235 and 225 is really minimal.
I've had 235 and 225 on my Megane RS and the only time a difference was felt was on the track, and it was marginal.

I'll check with my contact at Michelin if they have stock for the size you need.

255/45 would give you a lekker contact patch and is 0.83% different in circumference.

hmm but likely too wide for your rims

all the Tyres are sitting on the Docks still, hopefully within a week or two there will be more stock at the shops
i struggled to get tyres for the amg, the 370z and the navara all within the last week
ended up getting some buy paid way more than i should of

Correct, not a lot of wiggle room in the wheelarch either.
The most likely route would be going 235/45/17 and I'll make very sure my insurance covers rim damage.

Make insurance pay for 2 tyres at least if you can. Having a different size/brand/tread pattern on one of the corners is not a great idea.

That at least means there is a possibility if I wait a week or two - better than the rest of the shops simply not saying any eta.

When I bought the car I they "gave" me tyre insurance but they require a quote for replacement which no one can give me.
Even then they refuse to pay for two "because only one was damaged"

This is why I hate insurance companies in general. I would do the following:

1) Get a quote from Ford for the supply and fitment of a new tyre. Even if they don't have stock they should give you a quote.
2) The quote should be a ridiculous dealer quote - good.
3) Get the money and do what you want.

Maybe yes, not a bad idea.
Just have to find someone willing to do a quote first.

And just for clarity, I am planning on replacing all 4 anyway regardless of insurance. Wont use different tyres on the same axle.

Now you got a new excuse to buy another bike

So I give up - I've called every shop I could find, some twice just to check if they're fucking with me.

Goodyear eta is Feb, No eta for Michelin at all and no stock anywhere on a decent set of anything else, so I caved and ordered a smaller size.
235/45 instead of 235/50 - The most reasonable change IMHO.

Not willing to continue driving the N1 with a bubble on the sidewall.

Got a set of Michelin Pilot sport 4's and some new brake pads since I'm going to be broke anyways afterwards, might as well make the crying worth it.
