I'll report back in the coming days.. but yoh, these X2's are nice. Haven't gamed on them yet, just listened to some sweet melodies to make them feel welcome in their new home.

Edit: I'm quite enjoying the elevated bass and treble. All these V-shaped cans are drawing me closer and closer to the 6xx. Pretty sure that will be my next addition until I'm ready for 800S territory.

Edit 2: X2's and deep house = big making my work rather enjoyable this evening.

Hahaha z reviews. Lokl dt770 kills the 598cs. Dont bother already tested.
Senns dont do mid bass leka or not like the beyers.

Dt push well above its price point esp when compares to vmoda, msrp7 m50x and 598cs i tested with my bro.

The midbass is more on my DT990 600ohm vs my HD598, where the HD598 is noticeably clearer though? (I might mean brighter, not really sure how to illustrate my audio experience that well in words yet) Base response is very similar to the HD58X on my desk though...

Your ears definitely fall into the fun category. I understand then why you would enjoy the DT770 over the HD598 (when comparing base). Would not recommend any high end sennheiser to you brother, but you are already aware of this.

Like you said, x2 or a fostex offering for you. Shure also have a crazy bass can.

edit: The bass response of the DT990 is similar to the HD58X, not the HD598.

I think the word you're looking for to describe "clearer", is "separation", as in sound separation, and also possibly "detailed" or "textured". This makes sense as the 598's U-shape will be clearer than the DT990's V-shape (elevated lows and highs). The mids on the 598 should be noticeably more detailed than the 990's, the 598 kinda prides itself on mids.

The X2's are fun af. Feels like they were fine tuned for a mass market not interested in a neutral sound but at the same time not interested in a Beats heavy bass sound either. It's just the right amount of fun.

I would have had a tough time with that also like atm my 770's are just gathering dust when I could sell them and pick up a nice little Nuprime UDSD dac/amp to elevate my audio experience across all my headies (I don't have any 600 ohm headies - yet).

2. Sennies HD6xx

I have a Fiio EK10 at the office into my mac. I sorely want to upgrade it to a Nuprime udsd! I only heard it on one or two occasions, but the community feedback on it convinced me as the go to 'mobile' dac.

It was my bae, it held my hand while I treaded into the world of high fidelity music... Showed me which music was good and what was bad. It sat patiently, while I demo'd multiple other headphones, always eager to serve when I returned to her. Comforting me when I got confused between U and V shaped patterns. Consoled me when I could no longer distinguish between fun and accurate.... It excitedly welcomed all the the new comers to the stable, although she was honest and precise to point out their flaws. Equally concise to point out its own flaws when compared to a better option. She was the best I had, but in order for me to progress, I will have to let her go...
