Well unless he is the dumbest F*cking scammer in the world he wouldn't have given him he's real address...

Now i'm relatively new to carb so no one will trust me to ship ...yet, and I didn't have the need for something to be shipped to me yet but it will be for the best to ask for pictures if not then it's scam and as he has sent you some pics just ask for a special request picture (for example closeup of the hdmi port) it wont stop him from "selling" it multiple times but at least you will know the card is real if the pics is not downloaded...

Was also new to carb a month or so back, was about to buy a i5 2500k + mobo from him...luckily I found a option so I didnt go through with it.

Hope you get the guy or you money back....he did sound sort a legit though, but being new...I wouldnt know

Ay this is terrible. I noticed a lot of noobs posting sales like this, shouldn't there be a rule that no one can post a sale unless they have some references? Or at least been around for longer than a few hours. Perhaps accounts on carb should be applied for with a copy of ID + proof of address? Over kill yes, people shouldn't be so willing to EFT money in the first place. Probably won't solve the problem, but what can we do? Sure it's funny that people are so gullible, but this is getting out of hand now.

Or how about this idea mods, how about before you can post a sale, you need to make a donation to carb? Kind of like the Reseller subscription, but once off? Even a small donation should deter a significant bulk of the scammers.

I lost R600 to the [SUB]g[/SUB]roenewalds years ago on carb, I'd much rather have known that my money went to a worthy cause, like carb upkeep and maintenance.

Eina. Man i for one do feel sorry for the buyer. I think its a bit unfair to say its entirely his own fault. Its almost as if you saying its not the scammers fault.

Although i havent been on carb too long (or havent done too many deals should i say) i have never entered a deal without the other party having some type of itrader with at least one reference. But then again we all have to start somewhere.

If you have his bank details then i would start there. Try going to said bank and reporting the fraud and then taking any information you have to the cops.

At the end of the day there wil always be assholes and just unfortunate you got caught by one.

I am for the idea of paying a small donation fee and you get a verified tick. This would also help those new starters with buying and selling items (like myself) who might not have someone to vouch for them. Hope you come right bud.

Been there done that ito proposing id verification. Hassle is 1. Admin burden and 2. Scammers will submit fakes.
Major rule is - dont be greedy so if it sounds too good to be true it probably is.

Gents, have a look at [MENTION=33152]Swiftrade[/MENTION] 's escrow service. He charges usual courier fees + 4% of deal (last I checked).

If you use him, it's almost impossible to get scammed as he effectively arranges a "face to face" on your behalf.

I try hard to use him whenever there's shipping involved, have done so twice and have been very happy both times.
